Don't overlook K State. Everyone seems to be giving the Sugar berth to OU. What if K State borrows one of OSUs horseshoes and jams it way up in there, only to pull it out on gameday. In this wacky BCS world, stranger things have happened.

OU will have all the pressure of trying to maintain the perfect season and play for the MNC. K State has nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

I'm no KState homer, but just think of it as another one of the possibilities...

Even if OU loses, they will still be in the Top 2 and play in the Sugar Bowl...

If USC beats Oregon State, a Kansas State win over Oklahoma would likely knock LSU out of the Sugar Bowl.

Why? Because USC would likely get 1st in the human polls, an no way do they drop Oklahoma below LSU. That would be too big of a lead to overcome.

They could drop to 3 or 4 in the polls, and the loss column adds a point, plus decreases in the computer polls. They could add anywhere from 3-6 points to their BCS score.

Remember, the BCS methodology frowns upon late season losses.

I don't know. No. 1 loses to a 14/15th ranked KState and No. 1 only falls one spot? That's a tough one to swallow. I know being an LSU fan provides me with certain unalienable rights such as seeing the half-full glass as being 3/4 full, but to only fall one notch with a late season loss would only be because everyone has already resigned themseleves to put OU in the Sugar.

I don't want Oklahoma to lose. They could fall to only two, or to # three in the human polls. But, they just might stay at one in all the computer polls since they look at the season, as a whole, I believe. I don't know how it would work or what impact it would have on LSU vs. USC in the BCS, but I'd rather not chance it. Plus, if LSU gets to the Sugar, I want them to play an undefeated Sooner team that everyone (except the LSU camp, of course!) thinks is invincible.

Just thought I'd bring this thread back up as a nice "told you so!." While some of the naysayers here were poo-pooing LSU's chances of getting to the national championship game, I really had no doubt that if we won those last five games we'd be in. I figured either USC (along with the others who lost) would lose another game, or LSU would catch them anyway due to the level of competition they would play. I really envisioned a rematch with Florida in the SECCG and keeping the Georgia QW points, though! I had no idea it would come down to a loss by the flailing Irish of Noter Lame (how awesome!!!).

The LSU Fighting Tigers are a team of destiny this year. I believe we will beat the Sooners. Furthermore, I don't believe there will be a split NC. Either USC will lose to Michigan (very likely), or LSU will beat Oklahoma convincingly enough to sway the necessary A.P. voters (or both!).
