Bradford, has been used as both a starter and reliever during SEC series, will be utilized strictly as the closer for the last 12 conference games. Martin, Brown and Verdugo will start the three games at home against South Carolina this weekend. per rivals.
From article at rivals on CPM's pitching plans ..... Jared Bradford, who has been used as both a starter and reliever during SEC series, will be utilized strictly as the closer for the last 12 conference games. Blake Martin, Jordan Brown and Ryan Verdugo will start the three games at home against South Carolina this weekend. Freshman Daniel Bradshaw, who has struggled for weeks in the closer's role, will begin a transition to a starting hurler.
:hihi: i gotta say, i am still shaking my head over some of the things that come out of hawthorne's mouth. but i guess im beating a dead horse to death.
I still don't get what PM's problem is with giving Bradford the Friday night start instead of this closer crap. Bradford's the best pitcher we have so he either waits to start him Sunday after he's lost the first 2 games of almost every series or as a closer. Whatever happened to pitching your best pitcher Friday night of every SEC series to try and win the first one. We've been pitching our weaker pitchers Friday night against the other teams' best pitchers and we have lost every Friday night, and nearly ever Saturday game. We won the Friday game tonight but using Bradford strictly as a closer seems like a waste to me.
