Tough pill to swallow tonight Tiger fans....:dis: That 4th inning killed us! Tulane is a REAL good ball team and as of right now, I just think we're "good enough to earn another regional". The Wave, and I feel dirty for saying this, looks like a CWS caliber team whereas we look like we should be happy to make a Super Regional....at least with the way we've been playing lately. I commend Skip for the tough schedule though. Our record doesn't look nearly as impressive than other teams in the top 25--but we're better than our lack-luster record. The only problem is that when you schedule tons of top-25 teams, yes it gives you the competition you'll have to face in the post season, but you've got to beat those types of teams in the post season. Right now, we're not winning consistantly enough.
hey guys lets face its time to realize that this years lsu tiger baseball team just doesn't have it. IT makes me sick that we are accepting mediocre. Did anybody see in the second or third inning where our second basemen was scared to get hit by the runner instead of going to catch that infield flyball. To me that is f****** ridiculous. We cannot field nothing. Tonight I witnessed what everybody has been talking about. We absolutely lack fundementals like I have never seen before. The infield flyball that we decide to let fall, what was our left fielder doing in the fourth inning when the tulane hitter hits the ball and our guy just lets the damn ball ball roll right by him and dont give me that crap "well he just missed played it," yea no ****. He is out in left field playing with himself.:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire. To say that I'm pissed off is an understatement. Hey Tulane's coach didn't hesitate there at the end to pull his pitchers out but no our coach lets his pitchers stay on the fing mound to give up run after run. DA. or hit batter after batter.
Isn't it just silly to argue about the state of LSU baseball? Even if we don't make the CWS this year, won't the status quo remain based simply on our accomplishments during the last 3 or 4 years? The status quo will remain regardless of what happens on the field. Everybody get comfy with that, because that's reality.
Dont come here with that $hit. Football is not the only real sport, we have 5 championships in baseball, I think that is a real sport.
Anyone who picks out one play or one game and points out how inept the players or coaching staff is shows just how ignorant they are about baseball. I've never seen people who know absolutely nothing about the game post so much BS before in my life. I guess Bagwell and Biggio should be forced to retire from the Astro's for letting an infield pop up drop between them against the Braves Monday night. And of course Garner should be fired as well along with all of his coaches. And the Houston fans should all quit going to the games since that one play proves the Astros just don't have what it takes to be a good team this year.
2 words Pitching coach. Anyone notice our pitcher have horrible mechanics and look like they are trying to over throw every pitch. ANd I'm not just talking about Nall with the goofy side arm action.
I think many fans confuse program with team. At this point in the season, you can certainly say that Tulane is the better team. They are playing better right now and beat us twice this season ... no arguments here. But to suggest they have the best program would mean that they are outperforming LSU year in, year out. And we all know that is simply not true. They have sat home the last two years and watched us play in Omaha. You may want to rethink your definition of the best baseball program in the state...
I may get hammered for some of my thoughts, but here they are anyway. Yes, Tiger fans can't stand Tulane beating LSU at anything, and the better team last night was Tulane. But to give credit to LSU, they didn't give up - even after an awful 4th inning - and cut Tulane's lead. A lot of lesser teams would have just been totally psyched out and given up after the 4th. I think it is good for LSU and for the State to have two powerhouse baseball teams. LSU AND Tulane. Because they play each other every year - a tradition I want to see continue - it is good for LSU to have Tulane be nationally ranked. And it is good for the Louisiana to have two nationally recognized teams. IMHO, it raises the stature of baseball in Louisiana and brings more national recognition. Just the fact that last night's game was televised on ESPN2 was huge! It has been something like 10 years since a regular season college baseball game was televised on on of the ESPN's. (Not counting the new ESPNU.) And it was LSU/Tulane! That game wouldn't have happened if both teams hadn't been nationally ranked, and both ranked so high pre-season! One of the reasons Baseball America gives for keeping Cal State Fullerton ranked so high is because of who they are playing. And most of the teams they have been playing lately are other California teams. I would like to see Louisiana put on the kind of pedestal baseball in the State of Calif. is put on. The only way that is gonna happen is if both LSU and Tulane have perenial powerhouse programs.
Point well made and well taken. You are right. I am impressed with what Jones has built, but they have a great deal more to accomplish. With that being said, I have to admit (with teeth clenched) that they are certainly on their way...
