1. hey sabanfan its time for you to get your head out of the clouds and get dose of reality. You mean to tell me that you will accept this team over what the lsu teams did in the 90's. If you do then you need to go check yourself into a mental institution. you must be watching a different type of game than I'm watching or something my god.
  2. So what's your point? Wanna fire every coach at LSU who can't win a NC every 3 or so years?
  3. I think the point that the previous poster made was that this program has taken a major slide this year. This is Smoke's first senior class!!!! He got to Omaha the last two years with guys like Aaron Hill and Jon Zeringue who were recruited by Skip. These guys were leaders, but this "senior" class isn't. What scares me is that is this just an one time aberration or is this a glimpse of what is to come? Based upon some of the underclassmen that we have, I unfortunately think it's a glimpse of things to come if Smoke remains with the program.
  4. As Billy Joel told us long ago: You may be right!

    But you could be wrong.

I'm totally unable to give an opinion worth a darn, because I'm too far removed from the facts to form an opinion. This season, I saw the first LSU baseball game on ESPN2 last night.

We'll just have to let a few more seasons play out to see whether you are right or wrong.
  5. It would be nice to see the Astros win a WS one day, wouldn't it?

  6. exactly my point. the fact Tulane beat LSU means they were and are the better team currently. When that equates into something more meaningful than a regular season game, let me know.

many of these same people are the ones who said tulane was the upcoming team of the new decade in 2000 when Skip lost his last game. well its going on 5 years, I see the same amount of National Championships for the weenies and one win in Omaha against Nebraska.

you guys keep piling on the Tulane bandwagon and I'll be laughing when you pile back on LSU's.

Sure LSU has struggled very much this year. Tulane has played more consistently under Rick Jones than LSU has under Smoke. Does that make tulane a better program? Of course not. Maybe Jones gets more out of his players than Smoke which seems likely which may give him the edge in coaching. Im not sure.

Im certainly not one of the idiots saying we are lsu and shouldnt accept mediocrity because if you truly believe LSU's baseball program is mediocre then you are delusional.

Has the program slipped? My personal belief is the program had dropped a few notches during skip's last 3 years which is more attributable to other programs putting more resources into baseball nationwide.

What bothers me most about this team is most of these guys are vets and have been through the ringer before. The pitching is as deep as its ever been yet they can't score when mestepey holds a team to 3 runs or less and can't outscore a team in a slugfest. it seems they fall behind most games (as opposed to the last 3 games) then claw their way back. Before you know it they let up mentally and thats when errors begin. I think this is due to lack of a couple hardnosed leaders. Lane is their biggest leader yet you need some position player who's out there everyday to be busting their ass and getting this team in gear. chris jackson is the closest i see to this. he's vocal and also plays tough. All baseball teams need at least one such player.

With all of my usual ramblings, I still think this team has the talent to finish the year strong and do what it takes if they step up as men and take the responsibility on themselves. If they continue to wait for someone else to make the big pitch, big hit or big play then we can expect the same results.

either way, all you greenie lovers can kiss my ass. :hihi: :hihi:
  7. LSU is one of the premier programs in the nation, even if they are going through a rough spot at the moment. I watched a little of the game last night and that 4 inning was impossible to come back from. But they never quit, I give them credit for that. If Tulane had to play LSU's schedule, I doubt they would be ranked third right now.
  8. Tirk, if you are directing your "Greenie Lover" comment at me I would really like a hit of the crack you are smoking.

As for your comment about Chris Jackson, I agree completely. Jackson is a sparkplug and one of the most incendiary players of the Smoke era. He has that aura about him. I can't remember a kid making that much contact in a long time...

  9. lol of course not, you're simply a closet weenie. nah wasnt directed to you but you need to keep all praises of green on this forum in your pants (or sock). :hihi: :hihi:

jackson's defense has been spectacular as well.
  10. Was smoke on some type of medication lastnight. the man looked daized in the dugout. Time for LSU baseball to stop living in the past. Its not the 90's anymore. Smoke aint the answer. Time to move on and make a change at seasons end.:geauxtige :tigbas:
