So when we don't compete for national championships in one program, it's time for Smoke to go... When we don't compete for 1st place in our own conference division and are happy with it after almost a decade on the job merits an approval with mediocrity. If you say the comparison of the two is fair, then there is no comparison. Laval has been past Brady's highest level of post-season success in each & every year at the helm of the program. He has been past it, and won once he's gotten there. He has only faltered in the Elite 8 level of the 64 team field of NCAA post-season competition. If it's a fair comparison, both your premises fall, and fall far short. Brady's been to the Sweet 16 once and lost...Smoke's been every year, and won...
again....2 totally different scenarios....we could have hired ANY baseball coach in the nation and they would have put us in the CWS ....the talent level is THAT good...u don't need good recruiting...kids from chicago are begging to get scholarships to LSU..if LSU wants you, that means you are a damn good ball players and kids know that then you got john brady...on the verge of having no basketball team, he leads us to a sweet 16..then, the year after, with ONLY 5 scholarship players, he puts LSU in a competitive situation every single game
First off, we all know I'm not an idiot, though your statement is quite idiotic, and I stand by that characterization of it... You comparing Brady & Smoke is laughable, even if you decide the comparison is fair, as the resident aetheist reverse Carpet-bagger here says... Smoke has been to the Sweet 16 EVERY YEAR HE'S BEEN HERE AND WON. Brady has been to the Sweet 16 ONCE AND LOST. He's been here LONGER than Smoke... The comparison isn't fair...but only because it's not fair to Brady...He fails to come anywhere near Smoke's level of success....
my whole point was that is not a fair comparison, and they should be held to totally different standards.
OK, I'm not here to get into a petty argument or call someone names...That's for Ramah & BB ;-)... I think it's pretty simple... Idiot: A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive. Since I have a mental age above 3 and was quite able to both learn and put into practice connected speech and and am able to guard against common dangers, I'm not an idiot. Thanks for devolving the thread...
So thinking that's its mostly fair is now saying that it's not a fair comparison? It either is or it isn't, but you had some ambiguity there... If you want to compare them to the Yankees, well, they lost 4 straight games and are the first team in history to blow a 3 games to none lead in the RECORDED HISTORY OF SPORT IN THIS WORLD. Much like the 0-4 in the CWS LSU experienced...So we're on par with the Bronx Bombers, if you ask me... ;-)
the "mental age above 3" classification system is no longer in use. it says so in your definition. so your mental age and speech have no bearing on your status as idiot/non-idiot.
we mostly agree on this one. smoke is held to a far higher standard, and should be. he does ok. i think we can agree there. brady should be held to a lower standard. you agree there. the only disagreement is how low. i think 2nd in the west isnt all that bad considering the circumstances, and i think another bad season should get brady fired. i know you have all sorts of personal rage or whatever against brady, and thats cool. but i have no argument against smoke, he is fine by me. i am only ackowledging that we all hold the programs to different standards, and i dont buy lsustudent's argument that you cant be critical of brady if you support smoke. i dont see any irony there.
martin, from the bottom of my heart at a quarter after three after midnight on the Sunday before my Thanksgiving Holiday ends, sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Having said that...**** you, you reverse Carpetbagging Aetheist... ;-)
