LOS ANGELES. (AP) -- The Southern California basketball team is currently holding a press conference in which the team is unveiling a plan contingent on LSU winning the NCAA men's basketball championship. After LSU pulled off an upset over #1 ranked Duke in the Southeast Semifinal, Southern Cal supporters around the nation have pulled together to campaign for it to be named a co-champion. The basketball team has transformed that fervor into a legitimate claim of a national championship.

Tim Floyd, Southern Cal head coach, stated,"If our bread and butter -- our football team -- can do it, we feel confident that we are able to also. We are considering the possibilities of claiming the championship outright because neither LSU nor Southn Cal signed a contract with the NCAA Tournament."

Floyd was referring to the 2003-2004 college football season when Southern Cal claimed a national title even though they did not play in the National Championship Game to which they agreed would decide the National Champion.

"We're big LSU fans right now," said Floyd. "We didn't make the NCAA or NIT Tournaments, but really, does that matter? The press loves us, and to borrow unsubstantiated claims from the media in 2003, 'Isn't it just clearly obvious that Southern Cal is better than LSU?'"

LSU officials have not responded to calls and emails for interviews. Officials at the AP Poll have stated that if LSU wins the Tournament, Southern Cal has a very strong possibility for being ranked #1 in the poll.

It is getting a bit old... those people out in California (and Auburn) cant just accept the fact that they arent national champions unless they win it outright!

That's impossible. Every word is spelled correctly and the sentences are structured perfectly. There are also no references to "the 12th man", referee blunders, or sheep humping.

Sorry about that. That I would start off on a humorous note.

Anyway, looks like my Bruins are in for a cat fight (no pun intended) this Saturday. If America thought it couldn't get any uglier than the UCLA-Memphis game, this one might just be a bit uglier. My guess is that first team to 50 wins...

    dude.

there is no chance you hold us to any less points than texas a&m (58) or ole miss (55) did. that's the ugliest two games of the season by far and we of course won both of them.

a&m and ole miss also have much size down low, which you are lacking. 70-66
