To clarify, its an analogy... I don't really believe the kid is a turd or a slug, just a screw-up that will have to live with the consequences of his actions as we all did when younger and rasher. I wish him well and the oppurtunity to learn from his juvenile mistakes. For me, it has never been about his decision to attend Bama, which was his only option after his LSU offer was pulled :bncry:. Therefore it is not really a choice but a default. Repeating otherwise will not make it truer and only shows an uncharacteristic avoidance of the facts by a respected poster. The same thing goes for the second coming of Saban, when he takes all true Bama belivers to the promised land. True Tiger fans do not discount Saban's ability, just the irrational and unqualified ferver that follows him in T-town where he has yet to play a game. My two bits, Fur
It was a joke to lighten up the thread a little. However, hhe is catching some flack from players and coaches as expected. Some just feel he made some boneheaded moves and they tease him about it. He contradicted himself many times. Saying he wanted to beat Bama for 4 years and then calling Miles after committing to Bama to see if the offer was still availible. I have no problem with Luther personally because he is a kid who just didnt know what to do and Miles made the decision easier for him by revoking the offer. The one problem I had was him revealing other recruits intentions if they were right or not. He said all these recruits were going to join him at Bama and they didnt but they had to deal with more hype from the media and teammates because of his bogus reports. It all happened for the best since we got Corley and that is all we could hope for.
LSU did a lot of scoring from outside the red zone, Terry. If you score from the 50, it shouldn't hurt your stats concerning how many times you were in the red zone.
I don't want to put word's in Terry's mouth but I think Terry is coming from the standpoint of the "redzone" is a position that good teams put more TD's on the board than fg's. It's more common to score td's in the "redzone" than from the 50. Between the 20's Alabama could move the ball on anybody. The problem was our team was so pitifully (physically) prepared and our schemes were so predictible that when the field "got smaller" and physical strength needed to be called upon we couldn't execute. We had to settle for FG's. At the end of the game we'd lose by 6, 7 or ten points. However if we could have scored 1 or 2 td's rather than those 1 or 2 fg's we would have won three more games. We did just as good as LSU, Florida (and whom ever else) at getting into the redzone but due to things already mentioned we settled for FG's which costs us games. That's the difference in well coached teams and teams that aren't well coached. FG's keep you in the game. TD's win you games.
