Thanks for all the nice compliments. I have passed them along - http://www.alumni.appstate.edu/blog/?p=460 FYI - Gerald Adams is the president of our athletic booster club called the Yosef Club. I work in the alumni office. Good luck this weekend. And good luck in the BCS chase!
All of the SEC schools have donated to the relief fund collectively, and through individual programs. I post this not to overshadow Appalachian State's contribution; it is remarkable gesture that stands alone in its sincerity and magnitude. http://www.ocm.auburn.edu/katrina/ SEC to Donate $1 Million to Relief Efforts The Southeastern Conference and its 12 member institutions will donate $1 million to the various Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. This contribution will supplement other individual institutional contributions and fundraising efforts. “Hurricane Katrina has devastated the lives of victims in four of the SEC’s states, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi, and may continue to do so for months and years to come,” said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive. “We express our sympathies and prayers to everyone who has been impacted by this storm and we are anxious to assist in the recovery efforts.” Each of the SEC’s 12 institutions will coordinate fundraising efforts for disaster relief at its home football games during the next several weeks.
I was one of the Mountaineers that made the trip on Saturday to Baton Rouge & it was the best atmosphere that I have ever experienced. I would just like to thank all the Tigers that made us feel welcomed like we were one of them. After the chants of "Tiger bait Tiger bait" there were offers of all the food & drinks that we could handle, which is a lot. Thanks again for the great time & good luck the rest of the season. Beat the hell out of Alabama. Go APPS!!
Seem to be a class act all the way around....even more so for having the wisdom to pull for LSU against BAMA! Seriously, enjoyed meeting the few that we met before the game, seemed like great football fans.
Probably the only time I enjoyed (as a fan) playing a 1AA team. Class Act... Good competitors... I must confess, I would have liked to put more points on the scoreboard, but LSU got the W and beat a talented team. Props to the Mountaineers.. Good luck with your season.
Reported in The Advertiser (local newspaper) that the donation actually came from "student groups" who "raised" the $20,000. Apparently the money was not from the game proceeds but the student body. Even more classy when the student body takes the initiative.:thumb:
