In todays offenses and rules hampering the defense his stats would make the fantasy cut. You can pick either Montana or Brady and you won't be wrong either way. If it was based on stats alone and not accounting for different eras Drew Brees wins by a landslide. Adjust for careers cut short by injuties and Bo Jackson was the greatest RB ever.

I think @tirk was asking, are you taking your ideal players for a real team, or an ultimate fantasy team. If I'm trying to build a winning team, my QB is Montana, but for his era, no QB racked up fantasy numbers like Randall Cunningham. So, real football:
    QB - Montana
RBs - Walter Payton, Jerome Bettis
WRs - Jerry Rice, Charlie Joiner (most reliable hands ever)
    TE - Tony Gonzales

    For fantasy points:
    QB - Cunningham
    RB - Tomlinson, Barry Sanders
    WR - Rice, Moss
    TE - Gronk

    QBJoe Montana/Burrow
    RB/PR Gale Sayers
    RB Walter Payton
    WR Jerry Rice
    WR Randy Moss
    TE Travis Kelce
    K Adam Vinatieri

seems we have a lot similar. I could have had everyone on your list if I had not mixed it up. I looked after I made mine. I did remember you had earl so I may have chosen him also. I did not remember you having sayers. Gonzalez was too obvious.

Will Vinateri end up in the HOF some day? The first half of his career was a lot more impressive than the second half.

I didn't pick a kicker so I'm tempted to go with Jan Stenerud but I'll be a homer with Morten Andersen instead.

If we are picking kickers I'm going with the fat guy that kicked for Oakland forever. Sebastian what's his name.

Janikowski. He is one of only 3 kickers to have tied Tom Dempsey's 63 yard field goal record. Dempsey, by the way is a resident of New Orleans assisted care facility where confirmed cases of Covid 19 happened to some of the other residents. This morning a retired judge who lived there died.
