I think only the bigger Nola parades would be considered big crowds. Most of the ones I go to in Laffy are so spread out that it never gets nearly as dense as an LSU home game in front of Mike's cage.

I was invited to the Church Point Mardi Gras last year but had to get back home for work.

That sounds like a lot of fun.

They do chase chickens. The ones who are "Co-Captains" (Peace-keepers) in the Mamou Run usually go there since it's on the Sunday before.

Tell me more of these Churchpoint & Mamou parades. When are they? Why are they different? I'm interested in this type of shit.

I've done enough sampling to feel confident. Prairie coonasses take their fun to a higher level than anyone I know with the possible exception of British rugby players.

They're not different, really. Just celebrated on different days. Not sure why but Church Point does their's on Sunday. Mamou is, well, "Fat Tuesday."

Last time I ran we had to leave the ride or be arrested. Me and some of my buddies from South Cameron/Lake Charles threw down in the middle of the hwy. cause some dude called my GF something disresepectful. The Co-captains folllowed trying to keep the peace but a couple of them got their ass kicked too. That was a long time ago though. We pulled 10 horses/riders out. Lucky we had a truck following with a 30ft stock trailer. It was cold and we weren't sure we'd make the day to start off with.

The night before (Monday) there are live bands. The Saturday before has gotten really big too. If you're interested in participating I have a place for you and a couple of friends to stay. Would love to have you. Been a long time since you and I drank one.

Dude, seriously, these are the BEST mardi gras festivities you will ever attend. Screw NOLA and their over publicized tourist trap. This is real people, better food, a better time for a lot less dough. You will never look at fat tuesday the same again.
