My great-great uncle, when he was old and retired (bored) timed the actual game play in a football game. It came out to like 5 minutes or so. Their are plenty of ways to shorten a game without touching the game, itself. 99% of those ways have to do with the marketing aspect of it.
Am I the only one who is NOT for shortening the games? The changes last year caused a lot of problems, but didn't seem to shorten much. I love football season and enjoy the season's length as it is. However, if they are that worried about player wear and tear, then I just wish they would stop jacking with the game, and go back to a 10 game season. I never hear players complain about this.
Richt has Knowshon Moreno listed as the #2 return back on the depth chart. His concern actually stemmed from an injury to a DB on the cover team during a game with UAB a few years ago that ended that player's career. The kid would have been a first or second round NFL draft pick. A UAB player blindsided him after the whistle had been blown and the result was a broken neck. Over a year of several intensive surgical procedures was involved.
