Didn't post my reply with the thought in mind that you would actually see the fallacy in your opinion, Slick.
There's no fallacy in my opinion, slick. Premeditated murder on a mass scale is easier when guns are made more readily available. That's just a simple statement of fact. It's YOU who committed a fallacy. You argued against a strawman. Do you know what a strawman fallacy is? It's when you falsely ascribe a notion to someone else and then argue against that of your own making. In this case you're arguing against the proposition that guns are the most efficient means of mass premeditated murder, something I never asserted.
And the point I made is also fact. In the absence of guns (which there will never be btw), criminals will find a way to do their bidding by other means and do just as much damage...like explosives. If we just had explosives laws... oh crap, wait a minute... There's really no way to pound it into your head or any other gun control advocate's head, and I really don't aim to. There are none so blind as those who will not see. But if you think for one second that someone won't either A) totally ignore whatever laws and regulations there are no matter how strict, or B) come up with a way around said strict laws and regulations, then you are as delusional as they come. Taking guns out of the equation by means of legislation is futile, because it will do nothing but ensure that only criminals have guns. ... Or to really simply and bluntly put it, criminals don't give one iota of fuck about laws, junior.
That's not a given. In fact, we have evidence from other countries that your claim is unfounded. Our overall murder rate from all sources, guns included, is 3x higher than Canada's, 5x higher than the UK's, 3x higher than France's, 5x higher than Australia's, and on and on. Those countries have strict gun control laws. The difference in murder rates between us and them is because of gun murders... we have the highest percentage of guns to citizens in the civilized world and also 11 times the rate of gun murders than the next closest developed country.
You are using the term "murder" to include all gun deaths. That is a factual lie. Its called a homicide. Over half of the documented homicides in the US are classified as suicides. Our population is larger than theirs. More facts, 96% of all suicides in the US are with a gun. So in a country that bans guns, people that want to commit suicide find different means. Australia, before the gun ban, used guns majority of the time to commit suicide. Now they resort to hanging, drugs, etc. We can certainly talk about gun deaths, but you need to be realistic. So in other words, no one can have a discussion with you.
