Given the fact that this year's schedule is mostly front-loaded with the tough teams (Az. St, Tenn, Fla), I wouldn't be surprised at all if the QB who manages the offense best and makes the best decisions with where to go with the ball starts, even if the other guy is the more gifted and talented athletically.

That could be either guy, honestly. I think it's safe to say that, for the most part, JaMarcus made the 'best decisions' with the ball and in running the offense in the bowl game.

One thing I sure as hell don't want to see is LSU having to resort to a QB platooning system in the first freaking game a la Oregon St. last season. That was done out of necessity, I know, but it set a trend for the season that, until the end of the year, dogged that team and impacted its performance each and every week.

That wasn't a racial issue (although, at the time, some thought it was)...it was an attitude issue. Rohan Davey remained humble and team-oriented throughout the whole QB controversy, whereas Josh Booty came in and acted as though he were owed the starting position. As a result, their teammates simply liked and respected Rohan more than they did Josh.

That would be the infamous Gary. He always calls up and wants to know how many tackles the linebackers had. He also calls up Buddy's show and asks Mike Scarborough (sp?) about whatever kid he heard is going to be the next great player on defense. Of course, he always asks about kids that no one has ever heard of. Gary's comments ALWAYS have some sort of racial motivation in them.

Are you talking about that guy that called the Randall/Russel switch in mid-season a 'racist' move?

I didn't get that guy. They're the same race!

Hummmm... Gary is the name of a certain poster here on TF... and I know that particulary guy calls in on post-game shows during football season......

As for the subject of this thread.... Flynn telegraphed a few int's at the scrimmage today... He threw several passes behind the receivers and at their feet as well.

After what I saw today Flynn did nothing to close the gap between he and Russell.

I agree with almost all of that...except for the fact I can see Perrilloux riding the pine for a year as a redshirt...He's going to get inundated when he gets on campus by a very complex offense and guys with multiple years with the same teacher...

It's almost akin to having a first year freshman come in and take a course that two other juniors have been taking-under the same professor-for two straight years...Sure, the freshman may have the course's field as a major of study, but even so, repetition, familiarity, and continuity will produce results faster than raw talent...and the two other juniors were amazing talents themselves when they first entered the arena, lest we forget...

People who saw Matt Mauck go 6-1 as a starter saw that same Matt Mauck go 13-1 as LSU's 2003 starting quarterback...I think it will be the same way for those that saw LSU nearly come back from a multiple touchdown 4th quarter deficit versus the Iowa Hawkeyes while being led by a totally cold 2nd year redshirt freshman playing his first season of Division One collegiate football...

Russell will prove it to you all, and put it all together...and that will be that...Flynn's a decent kid, and a helluva quarterback, but Russell is ready...

Went to the scrimmage today. Flynn threw some nice balls, including a nice over the shoulder deep ball to Amp Hill in tight coverage near the sidelines. The only problem I noticed with Flynn was he locks on his target too early. It may be because it's a scrimmage and the coach told him to look for a certain reciever, but my brother and I were watching him as he dropped back, we knew where he was going with the ball.

Flynn also had a nice bootleg near that had the whole crowd and defense fooled.
