You're a revisionist historian if you think Marcus Randall didn't play lights out against South Carolina and Ole Miss (SEC Offensive Player of the Week and he didn't even start), as well as lead our team to one boneheaded Jack Hunt defensive play away going to THREE STRAIGHT SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. Marcus Randall played well in '02, and he also played poorly at some points...But, if you say he played much better because of the "spring" then there might be some kernel of truth in that, but what can more honestly be said is that he just picked up right where he left off from the Arkansas game. People forget that he was the CBS Player of the Game that day, and we didn't even end up winning the game.
I think CBS announced Randall as POG right after we scored and it looked like LSU was heading to Atlanta. I think the announcers may have even jumped the gun with their boliviating. now, clearly a CBS trait with dan rather and election results! if they were to do it all over again, they probably would give it to birmingham or jones.
I think flynn will be the starting QB next year. After this season started it was too late to include flynn in 1st string practices. coaches already made choice and stuck with them.
I agree ... and do not see Russell improving greatly 1. Mobility ... Mobility ... Mobility 2. Playbook and System Smarts 3. Decent arm strength ... can chuck it 60+ yards versus 80+ for Russell 4. Accuracy ... had the best Spring stats (HIGHEST comp %) of all three QBs this last Spring We Shall See in 2005 ... may the best man win a starting spot
My "rumor" souce has it that the main reason Flynn hasn't played is because....his hands are too small. He can't grip the college-sized ball like he could the smaller high school ball. The coaches have been working with him on various grips/throwing techniques, but to no avail. If true, and he doesn't figure it out in the off season, then look for Russel to be your starter next year and Flynn to back up.
