Don't recall any problems with that in the game he quarterbacked in its entirety.

And a few games later in one of the season's most important games he twice almost got us delay of game penalties and forced the coaches to burn timeouts.

I'm not claiming that RP stinks and shouldn't take more snaps. I am pointing out -- with a bit of frustration -- that the assumption that RP = OMG HUGE WIN (that I have seen on this forum and others since last Saturday) is one that is most probably wrong. Flynn made mistakes against Kentucky, and if RP had played, he would have too.

I'm guessing that the coaches know more about the two players' abilities to lead the team than we do, and I'm not going to just chalk Flynn starting up to Miles's "loyalty to seniors". I remember quite a few people saying that Miles held Jimbo Fisher back last year, and I think we all know that was a bit off target.

Wouldn't have happened if he wasn't running on/off of field and coaches got play in on time.

I'm not advocating RP be our starter either.

That's a safe assumption; however, after last week's game, Miles did admit to what most saw, during the game.

I wanted to see RP in one play on Saturday... 4th and 2 at the end of the game. I wanted to see the pistol offence with RP and CS or KW in the backfield with TH out to one side and run the fake reverse option. But no lets send it between the tackles AGAIN. But hey we are #4 in the BCS we will get the problems fixed and be better for it. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

That's not what happened. Both times he was checking off to a new play and wsn't watching the clock. The coaches had to call time out from the sidelines.

A more experienced QB would have gotten the plays off in time. We will just have to disagree about that point.

Regarding Miles's statements about the game, I missed those (still recovering from the flu and catching up at work), but I'm glad he saw that. RP should play more. We are a better team when both QBs play.

Yeah, and he wasn't on the field for a series and in a rhythm- I didn't literally mean on each play it happened, though, I don't think he was on the field for each play before. It is what happened, as a result of running on and off- like I said, it wasn't a problem when he played the entire game and had a good rhythm so slice it however you so choose.

Or at least allow him more than two token throws. Maybe he sparks the offense, maybe he doesn't, but at least present the opportunity.

Flynn is not a very accurate passer. That has been pretty obvious for years. That doesn't mean he's a terrible QB or can't have success. Donovan McNabb isn't very accurate and he's been among the elite players in the NFL. Our WR's drop tons of balls. Combine innacurate passes and unreliable hands, and the passing game is bound to struggle. Those things have a tendency to snowball and get in players' heads. So, shake things up. Send Perrilloux in for a series of straight five step drops and see if they can't get this thing turned around.

That said, the original poster is right. The defense is supposed to be the identity of this team, and they didn't get the job done.

It didn't happen when Flynn came off the sidelines and into the game. It was a rookie mistake against a steady Defense.

I wonder if RP was the starter and we still lost this game by giving up so many points if those people calling for RP to be the starter would be calling for Matt Flynn to start.LSU!
