I don't think any sane Duck is unaware of LSU's great record in close games. It's impressive. But also from a Duck perspective, with Crowton as OC you weren't exactly going to blow out a decent opponent so you had to win close games. Oregon doesn't have the history and tradition of a school like LSU so we have to go out and make history rather than talk about past performances. We have to continue getting better each year, we have to be the bright light closing fast in everyone elses rear view mirrors until we start bringining home NC's on a regular basis. Until then we haven't accomplished anything. GoDucks...... This should be a great game.
Les either has a .500 record against OU, or a winning record against them. I can't remember. I think he may be the last visiting coach to win in Norman.
Yep in the same time frame, ya'll had 6 losses. Wait, for a team that plays Portland St., Washington St., New Mexico, etc. Of course the last two bowl games are in there (Both a loss).
I'm really not interested in getting into a discussion about non-conference games, but I'd like to point out a couple things. First, WSU isn't always bad, granted they are horrible right now, WSU won 10 or more games in 2001, 2002 & 2003 and they were PAC-10 champs during that period. Still they are absolutely horrible right now. Sort of the Kentucky of the PAC-12. As for Portland St and New Mexico, neither one of those games was originally suppose to be on the Ducks schedule. Both were last minute adds when opponents decided they didn't want to get crushed by the Ducks and pulled out of games they'd agreed to. As an example: PSU was added within 6 months of the game.
Happens to us a lot too. But that doesn't stop outsiders from giving us crap when we have to schedule teams to fill in for others. Out of all the SEC teams, I think LSU is the one that has been consistently among the top in scheduling OOC teams.
I agree, I think we do, we try and schedule an OOC game against a team from an AQ conference every year, these may not be top 5 teams each year, but its much more than A LOT of other schools do 2002 - Virginia Tech - L (8-26) 2003 - Arizona - W (59-1 2004 - Oregon Sate - W (22-21) 2005 - Arizona State - W (35-31) 2006 - Arizona - W (45-3) 2007 - Virginia Tech - W (48-7) 2009 - Washington - W (31-23) 2010 - North Carolina - W (30-24) & West Viginia - W (20-14)
I'd agree, I think LSU, Tenn and GA are the only SEC teams that seem to consistantly be willing to travel and play tough OOC games. What really gets me about SEC scheduling is that team from Florida with a swam lizard for a mascot. Have those guys ever played a OOC outside the eastern time zone? Let alone the state of FL? My point is if Florida isn't willing to play a "National" schedule, they shouldn't be allowed to play for a "National" title.
He went 2-2 against OU when he was at OSU. One of the losses was by 3pts as OSU missed a FG as time expired. TCU beat them in Norman in 2005 in the season opener.
