1. I understand the point completely. Why do you think we're stuck with Idaho as our opener? Schedules are made pretty far in advance and I guess a lot of top programs take a risk scheduling OOC games not knowing where those teams will be when it comes time to play. I don't agree though that SC got "credit" for the Fresno game. It was quite the opposite. We got publicly thrashed for giving up so many points and barely pulling it out and AT HOME. I'll be the first to tell you that there's only one reason, make that one PERSON, that won the game for us...........Reggie.

  2. Maybe locally y'all got bashed, but not nationally. In fact, during that game, the announcers decided to bash LSU's OOC (Even though he was actually referring to Auburn). After the game, no one in the national media questioned why "The Greatest Team of All-Time" (yep that's what the media was calling them) needed an all-worl performance from Reggie, combined with a colossal choke job by Pinneger (sp?) to win by only 8 to Fresno. A team La Tech beat pretty good.
Yes he choked. No other way to describe throwing into triple coverage on 3rd down when your not even under pressure. INT, ball game. No, I'm not saying he would have thrown a TD on 4th had he thrown it away, I'm saying that tossing that one was a choke job.
  3. Man, now it's on Sports Illustrated's front page.

They are really trying to beef this thing up.

...and check this out, you gotta love the headline:

    Booty predicts USC-LSU title game

    Posted: Thursday July 05, 2007 09:46AM ET

Will John David Booty be going home Jan. 7 for the national title game -- to New Orleans, where in his final two seasons in high school, his Evangel Christian team won state football titles? "If the magazines are correct, it'd be us and LSU," the USC QB said, talking about something so speculative he knows it doesn't really violate Coach Pete Carroll's rule to focus only on the "next practice, the next play, the next opponent" and never really look ahead.

  4. Taking his comment and spinning it into that headline is a perfect example of media b.s.

  5. Yeah, that's why I put it there. The headline is way off what he actually said.
  6. Pinnegar choked, that's for sure. Funny thing about that game. I was on the field prior to kickoff watching both teams warm up. I was standing about 5-10 yards from the Fresno players just listening to the chatter. At some point it hit me that this game was NOT going to be a romp. The Fresno players were cool, calm, focused, ready to take us on. They just had an energy and obviously a "we got nothing to lose" mentality. They played a great game.
  7. OSU was after a maelstrom that delayed the game and made conditions horrible... tends to even the field...

Anyone who references ASU is an idiot... Ever heard of a little storm called Katrina? Ever heard about kids with 15 people living in their one bedroom apartments.. Ever heard that the players of LSU's team lost an average of 15 lbs each during the time because of not eating, not working out, working as volunteers to help evacuees... I should know, I went through the same thing living 200 feet off campus and I am hardly a finely tuned college athlete... You mess with these kids schedules and they go to crap... These kids had lead in their shoes for the ASU game... (Sorry guys for the rant.. I hate when people from outside the state trivialize what went on here..)

  8. You're not the first person to call me an idiot. You're not even the first one today. I'm married, you know.

Apologies everywhere if you thought any comments made were making light of the Katrina aftermath. I think the point was trying to be made that the PAC hasn't played all that bad of late in their games with the SEC... and the scores of any one game mean squat in the big picture.
Hell, Iowa got beat 44-7 @ Arizona State in 2004, the same season we played you guys. What does that mean for the purposes of declaring conference strength?... absolutely nothing.

    zip.

    nada.
  9. Im glad to see Miles do his Spurrier impersonation. First he called out that little chit that coaches Bama and now the great USC and their pop warner schedule. You can tell that Miles wants to win a NC in the worst way. This only means good things for the LSU football program.
