I defenitly agree with that as part of his comments. Why not start lobbying early in this way? The media is jumping all over it right now and everyone is waiting to see our 2 programs face off. The media will not let anybody, especially the voters, forget his comments and spin it in ever direction. If it does play out it is going to be one of the most hyped games for a NC. If it comes down between LSU and say Texas or Michigan, the voters will want this storyline along with all the others created over the years. I agree Miles comments might be premature but now he doesnt have to talk all that much about it during the season. Just let the media do that for LSU and USC. I think it is kind of funny that many of us LSU fans wanted to see Miles get fired up in his interviews and show his passion for the game and now that he does it doesnt sit well. I enjoy the progress he is making in this department and not going overboard like other fired up coaches do to spark energy. He is showing who he really is and it just took a little while for him to get comfortable doing it.
That's what I think. I think this has nothing to do with USC, the Pac-10, the Big XII personally. I think he just knows that he plays in the SEC and it's friggin hard to go undefeated (making Auburn in '04 all that more impressive) and playing the media game the way the OSUs and UFs do is something that, sadly, has to be done.
That's exactly why Coach Miles is doing this. How many folks on here now think he isn't up to coaching in the SEC? A lot of people asked that for the past two years, but the man is pretty smart, and savvy, to boot. I love his fire, and I'm happy he's our coach. It's a splendid play to get LSU that pretty important #2 spot, and to have us as a "buzz" team in the media's psyche early on. Now, the big question is...can we actually go undefeated this season? We couldn't even do that in '03; of course, neither could USC.
And '92 bama, '93 auburn, '94 florida, '95 florida, '98 tenn. This is all in conference play. Both florida teams lost to an out of conference team (nebraska in 94, FSU in 95).
Those are all before my time. I was 11 when Tennesee won, and therefore am exempt from remembering that happening.
Well you need to know them........like they say, so history doesn't repeat itself. Remind me, later, to tell you about some other things that happened before your time.....like The Industrial Revolution, WWI, Neil Armstrong- you won't believe what he did before your time. :hihi:
oh no I've heard of him. Biggest tool in history, right? Neil Armstrong? Didn't he and that Aldrin fellla land on the Sun on the Ares -11 mission put up by FEMA?
To me, the only thing that article supports is the media bias that favors USC. Being in a large metropolis with many of the writers in their backyard USC gets all the good words in the media. I didn't think Les Miles comments were that bad but the media needs some action and tries to build up their darling Trojans again. USC didn't win the national championship in 2003, they won the media award. Teams outside the large metropolitan districts where the larger publications exist will always be underated. The teams living within these boundaries will be overated. Media bias is not just for politics.
