Why is Arkansas suspect? They gave LSU quite a game last season. Jones wasn't hurt for either game. He ran for 54 against USC and 142 against your D. We played AT Auburn (heat, hostile crowd, underdog, new QB) and still managed a SHUTOUT. Then there's Oregon State. They came to Death Valley, lost in OT while their placekicker could easily have won the game on several occasions. They sucked that year but still showed well on the road. But I read somewhere that's not a good comparison cause LSU's QB was not so good. :dis: Every single example seems to get exceptions.

Perhaps IF SEC teams played more OOC games on the road and NO Div 1AA teams especially at home, the road to the BCS might not be as easy as some think. Remember out of 28 road games against the Pac, the SEC is 10-17-1. But that won't happen any more than USC joining the SEC so the ONLY way to settle things is on the field.

Visiting and living are two very different things. I was born and raised in SoCal and don't know any "plastic" people with the exception of those who move here and like to pretend. Just like the media can "spin" football stories, they can spin life stories as well. Hollywood is far from the reality of most Southern Californians and NorCal folks even more.

I HAVE been around PC. I realize he's not well liked here or elsewhere. However he is far from what you have described. He's like a lot of football coaches.......has a love for kids, a love for the game, a desire to win, a great sense of humor, a true competitor, and charitably generous. He's a great public speaker, a favorite with his players, and is having a great time doing his job. One of his closest friends out here now is Tim Floyd. They tour together speaking to support group members and they are a riot. Floyd is from La and I can guarantee you he gives as good as gets on the circuit. That kind of kinship can only come from mutual respect.

Regardless, an accent or lack thereof means absolutely nothing in terms of the kind of person you are. :geauxtige

Actually, vball, Floyd is from Hattiesburg, MS. However, Floyd has spent extensive time coaching in Louisiana from stints at (his alma mater) LA Tech, the University of New Orleans, and also with the New Orleans Hornets.

We both kow how much of an X-factor Mcfadden is and he only made Jones better when he was healthy. So that stat is not impressive. Plus comparing the USC\Arky game in September to the LSU\Arky game at the end of November is a stretch at best.

The Auburn win is impressive since you usually have to beat them and the officials.

Do you know why the Oregon State place kicker missed multiple field goals? I think you do since it's been covered a few times in the past couple weeks.

We would have to play a harder OOC schedule if we were in the Pac-10. If we didn't noone would take us seriously. But given we played 4 top ten teams in conference on the road last year alone, our OOC schedule suits me just fine.

You are correct. Born in Hattiesburg but he's a cajun at heart. I guess the greater point is about a southern accent. I think Mississippi counts....or does it? :yelwink2:

So I guess that's different than Vaughn and his squandering a win for Auburn?

Like I said, every single example seems to get exceptions.

    Vaughn choked. Bottom line.

The Oregon State kicker was setting his foot in mud. You're going to tell me that bad weather doesn't even the playing field? Especially on special teams?

My company is based in El Segundo so I have had interaction with many intellegent people there and my plastic description holds true. Being a lifetime Dodgers fan I had to make it to a game one time and there was a unexplainable wierdness there too--3 John Ritters were sitting next to me. Great experience though and Wilson Alveraz pitched a complete game for a Dodgers win against the Padres--it was a throwback to Fernando Valenzuala for sure. Having also visited San Diego and San Fransisco, my plasticity description does not go beyond the LA area of my experiences. I'm sure there are nice areas there with normal people just like everywhere in the USA.

good to here that PC gives back to his community--all coaches and athletes have a duty to do that given their role model position. His demeanor and actions just bug me when I have seen him on camera like maybe Jon Gruden might bug some people with the Chuckie face.

the whole reason for all this hubbub is that everyone gets tired of any media darling like USC has been just like if you are a real golfer can they talk about anyone except Tiger? :po:

and as far as an accent, have you ever heard a real good ole coonass say:

    "Laissez les bons temps rouler"

best cookin', fun lovin' and most genuine people you ever will meet....
:hihi:  :helmet: :geauxtige :crystal: when do we start tailgating?

And this is my point. No doubt USC and Pete Carroll have built a great program there but they have NEVER played a conference schedule like LSU. Their record would have not been the same if the quality of the Pac 10 teams have CONSISTENTLY been as good as the SEC. I remember the Pac 10 being good like back when Rodney Peete played for USC and definitely before that. But recently the conference has been sorry and that is where most of their games are. Beating other OOC top teams is diminished in my view when most of the games you play are not top teams. :dis: LSU's shedule is opposite--most of the games they play are top teams while some of the OOC games are soft--expect Va. Tech this year--ouch I hate those Hokies--went to the game in Blacksburg a few years ago--ugly Tiger showing but if they didn't call back that opening punt return who knows? LSU didn't score til the 4th quarter after that. Different story in Death Valley in '07!!!!!!! :eek:ldskule: :geauxtige

Arky was suspect because McFadden was their whole team. He was the QB, RB, and WR at times. He was rushed into that game after breaking his big toe a month or so before the opener. No one thought Arky had a chance without McFadden being 100%. The rest of the year following the loss shows this to be true. No QB what so ever and a mediocre D. Arky was deflated early in that game and it seriously got out of hand. Not trying to take anything away from USC but Arky at the start of the season was way diffferent towards the end.

On the Oregon St. game. LSU has a history of starting off slow out of the gate and the weather didnt help either. Trust me I am always going to be worried during the 1st 2 or 3 games of the season given our history. Miss St. scares me a little as well and even more than Oregon St. with their above average D.
