1. I don't know anything about him except what I have recently read. The fact that Wisconsin also wanted him is encouraging. He seems to have the credentials both as a teacher and recruiter. His experience and contacts n Florida could help us in that state. The hire seems to show promise. But the proof is in the pudding. We will see in a couple of years how good a hire he is.
  2. I like it.
  3. He'll do just fine. He supposedly is an excellent recruiter too.
  4. I trust Coach Miles' judgement. He has shown many times that he views himself and his program only as good as the assistants he hires, and tries to bring in the best.
  5. Yep. He showed that by getting Pelini and Dunbar in the first place. He knows how important defense is down here now. Look how many games it won him last year.

I like the fact that his recent teams have been able to get so many sacks. That'll come in quite handy in the SEC.
  6. And Bradly Peveto as well. Coach Peveto is becomming my favorite assistant! :thumb: In one season, our special teams units (mostly coverage units) vastly improved and players and recruits alike seem to really enjoy being around him; he's seems to be a great recruiter.
  7. Very true. I forgot about BDP. Good call.
  8. Lane wasn't a hire ... he was stolen from Wisconsin, pure and simple. Lane is a passionate and dedicated coach who breathes pure fire on the field and in practice. LSU's recruiting in Florida has been pathetic ... and needs a big boost there. This was a good steal for Miles. Florida has the best* HS FB talent in America ... and second place Louisiana, ain't even close.

*Stat = Total # of HS FB Players versus Total # who sign a Div-1 scholly.

Lane will have a "huge X & O" learning curve at LSU & Pellini will have his hands full with this guy. You can only hope the chemistry is good and this benefits the team. Miles prolly doubled his Wisconsin pay to lure him, lol.
  9. Sucks for Wisconsin right now - you hire somebody and they quit a couple days later for the same position somewhere else... This Earl is a smart man! Welcome to LSU.
