Re: # 16 in the USA/ESPN Poll Hmmm... to play devil's advocate, are you watching this team when they played Utah, Xavier, Texas A&M or Auburn last week, or some other week, when they played Kentucky and Florida (both of which are on the bubble). I want to stay optimistic here, but this LSU team is a team that plays hard and can get hot, but they are a streaky team built around a shooting guard and small/power forward, and good role play around them--they've won a SEC conference that may only get three maybe 4 teams in the big dance. Like with any team, if MT and TM are playing well, LSU has a chance. But, if LSU runs into a team with a strong interior presence (which could come in round 1 if the matchups are wrong), or a team with superior talent 1-5 (which may come as early as the round of 32 or the Sweet 16), LSU will have to rely on great defense and great shooting to survive. Obviously it CAN happen but what are the ODDs it will happen? I stand by what I posted in another thread a few weeks ago. This team deserves a 5-7 seed, and if they won the SEC tourney they could see a 4. As others have said in this thread, I'm less concerned about the seeding and more concerned about the draw. Matching up with Duke say in the sweet 16 would be awesome. Drawing a team like Utah, or Vanderbilt (if there is a non-SEC version of Vanderbilt, which there are), in the first couple of rounds could be trouble, unless MT and TM and GT are hot. Obviously drawing a small to mid-major which doesn't have an abundance of bigs in the first or second rounds would be great.
