I thought Voogd was much improved and in some ways better than Tack at feeding the team (not to mention that great takeaway in the first half). It still seems that Tack is too fast for the rest of the team, but it got better in the second half. Davis has become, in a word, svelt and can get up and down the court much faster than last year. Looks like another great season is on the way.
How does Big Baby look with his verticle? I would love to see him get a full head of steam and dunk the **** out of the ball.
Nicholls State Head Coach, J.P. Piper "They're bigger, quicker, stronger than what we're used to competing against, and the margin of time to get your shot off is so much smaller than what we're used to."
The negatives: Tack looked like he wasn't interested in driving and dishing at all, he was just content to stand around the perimeter and pass around the ball. You could audibly hear him yelling for a pass on the court from section 110, and it got annoying rather quickly. The team just plays differently ( and a lot more poorly) when he's in the game. He got all of his assists in garbage time. During the first half when he played about 3 minutes, I wasn't impressed at all. Chris Johnson got his buckets in garbage time. Let's not get carried away with his contributions. The positives: Temple is 500% better at shooting the ball this year, and Tasmin can play any position on the court. Davis' vertical leap is improved and I saw an authoritative jam from him as well as a made 3-point shot. Voogd has improved with his quickness, his ball defense, and his decision making skills. I am no longer scared to see him handle the ball.
Glad to see Temple shooting well but let's not get too excited, it's only one game. If he can do that throughout the year, with his defense he will be awesome.
