No, i found that site earlier and i thought it was pretty funny. I think the guy who did it is either a complete wack-job or just made it as a joke.

I don't know, fellers. I'm kind of easy on this one.

Christmas is a major holiday in this country. For most folks it is a religious holiday, but there is also a big element of old European winter solstice festivals (tree decorating, caroling, yule logs, Santa, etc.) that are not religious but have intertwined with Christmas celebration over the millenia and are now all part of it. Many non-religious people and even people of other faiths enjoy Christmas as a winter celebration and a holiday from work.

I don't really understand someone who lives in America and has a problem with Christmas. If you lived in Israel, you would expect Hannukah to be a major holiday. If you lived in Bahrain, you'd expect for Ramadan to be a major national holiday. This is reality and atheists must live with it almost anywhere or emigrate to some non-religious country . . . like North Korea, maybe.

I don't have a problem with the phrase "Happy Holidays" either. Usually it refers to the back-to-back holiday time of Christmas and New Year. If someone has a beef with Christmas and wants to use "Happy Holidays" to include Hannukah, Kwanzaa, and the Festival of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, then . . whatever blows your frock up, pal.

It ain't gonna upset my Christmas.

I agree, red. I, for the life of me, can't figure out why either phrase upsets people. The fact that some choose to say 'Happy Holidays' isn't satanic, and the fact that others choose to say 'Merry Christmas' isn't forcing your religion on someone.

Like I said, I think people just want something to bitch about. Everybody wants to be a victim. But this is so miniscule that I think it's downright shameful for people to be so up in arms over it.

It makes me mad to think that people or companies say "Happy Holidays" so they don't offend people. If they say it for other reasons, I'm fine with that. But tip-toeing around "religious" words in private enterprise is the height of folly (OK, maybe not the height, but I like that phrase.)

I see your point. I abhor Political Correctness and use of "Happy Holidays" as a PC thing is something I must disapprove of.

So, vote with your pocketbook. If they Happy Holliday you to death at Wal-Mart, spend your money at a store that has a big Merry Christmas sign. And tell the Wal-Mart manger why you are taking your Christmas business elsewhere. If there is a backlash, they will change their policies. It's all about making a buck.

Wal-Mart's sales are so astronomically high that I somehow doubt they'll care much.

Either way, semantically speaking, since more than one holiday is celebrated within a week's time, saying 'Happy Holidays' is a little more inclusive.
