As I recall...he initially accepted it...then had a change of heart...and WVU gave him a nice raise. I'm sure the raise and the change of heart were just coincedental.
If what the booster said was true with things in the works way before Carr's announcement, then , if the job was already offered to Miles, I believe Miles would have the decency of letting Skip know. That would mean Skip would have already started calling. One odd post in another forum posted one or two weeks was about the tracking of a plane from SC to BR with Spurrier being in town! As Red posted, if Miles intends to leave, the administration would and should have forced Miles to announce ASAP, as early as perhaps after the ARK game to allow an earlier transition, and saving recruiting at the expense of the MNC. If the Tigers manage to reach the MNC game, Miles would not be as effective- imagine as a player, how can you drum up the emotion to play the very best to win for your coach, the one who's leaving? It would be short sighted and unfair on the part of the admin.to keep things quiet just to try to win the NC. If Miles wants to help save his team from any distraction, and if wants to stay put, he should come out and say it ASAP. I believe fans and players will believe his word. If Miles hasn't been offered the job yet, and is still waiting, then I think that is a good sign as I do tend to believe that the whole thing has been in the works long before this week. I wonder if Skip would call up Michigan and check out the scoop! That would only help to quelch the crazy speculation one way or another.I won't be surprised if Skip already knows!
Re: Any former LSU players now coaching anywhere? Former LSU d-lineman and former LSU d-line coach is coaching for the Vikings now, I believe. Can't remember his name... Vaughn? Dunbar? Hmm..
On tuesday's press conference, Miles needs to come out and say that he is not gonna discuss the Michigan situation until after LSU finishes the season...His goal is to win the SEC championship and the National Championship....Michigan is a great job and has given him a lot of opportunities, but the chance to win a championship is now, and he will not let anything or anybody come in between the team's goals for the season. If Michigan starts calling for Miles before the championship game, then I will hate them more than OSU, USC, Bama and Auburn combined...It's not up to them to affect the national championship race...They just need to let the season be over with and do whatever they want...I just hope they don't mess our chances of winning, it would be a shame.
The press luncheon is tomorrow. I'm sure the question will come up and I'm sure Miles will handle it the same way he has handled it thus far. I may not think he is a great coach, but I do think he is a man of his word. He says that he will remain focused on the season, and I believe him. Plus I think things have been kept quiet about his for some time, and they will continue to do so at both Michigan and LSU.
Jim Carty / Ann Arbor News / Miles the perfect choice. Good Article Link: http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/football/index.ssf/2007/11/the_perfect_candidate_should_b.html Covers some good points. And makes me believe CLM will go to Michigan at some point. ldskule:
Re: Jim Carty / Ann Arbor News / Miles the perfect choice. Good Article "If LSU keeps winning, could Miles actually walk away from a shot at the national title? Could Michigan ask him to? And, if it wouldn't, could Michigan actually wait until early January for him?" Michigan needs to stay the hell away until LSU's season is over...They don't have a right to disrupt our goal...They had a chance to do that on the field and failed miserably...Stay away until the season is over, if they can't wait, hire somebody else.
