    Whiners.

All of the previous cases mentioned inlclude the opportunity for the young man to play pro ball.

In Williams case, this is not an option. Do you really want him to have to be out of football for a year?

How does this help LSU? College football? Williams?

I choose to allow him back. This will help College football, Williams, AND LSU (by beating their asses with him on the field). This will HURT noone.

Good Lord, I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone can derive satisfaction out of another's problem. It is not as if HE changed his mind and wanted to come back (as is the case of M. Hill). The rug was pulled out from under him. If he was elligible for the NFL and only wanted to reverse his decision, I would be against it also.

I think most people's problem with Williams being reinstated (well the people on this board esp) is that it will be perceived as a USC bias, thus continuing the perceived USC/West Coast/LA media bias that we all ran afoul of last year. That if Williams played for any other school, there's no way he would be let back in, but in this case, it's good for the NCAA's "image" or "marketability" or something dumb like that. I sorta feel that way, and it's what pisses me off. I don't have anything against the guy personally, but he plays for Prima Donna U, whose collective sh** smells rosy according to the media, and I have to hold that against him.

Hell, after winning my first NCAA 2005 MNC by spanking USC 37-0 in the Orange Bowl, the next season's preseason media poll? USC #1 with all votes. I'm like, DAMN, this game is realistic.

YnotUS. Im sick and tired of the double standard given to media darlings in this country. If this was someone from say FSU, LSU, or some other school that the media has a bias against, you would not see them bellowing to have this player reinstated. He damn well knew that if the NFL won their case that he would be ineligible, and therefore should be held accountable and not beg the NCAA for reinstatement. Call it what you want, whining whatever, but it is time to start holding these kids accountable and stop giving in to these kids when they don't get their way. Take responsibility for your actions!:champs:

Wouldn't it be nice if you went into a casino and lost $1000, and then could appeal to get your money back and they gave it back? Same situation here...he knew the rules and the risks going in. Dude gambled and lost. Simple as that.

And nobody's deriving any satisfaction from it...it's just that there are rules
that are set in place for a reason, and when you start making exceptions to those rules, it opens up a whole new can of worms.

Screw Mike Williams and screw USC. What about Bloom from CU, he accepted endorsements for a totally different sport and the NCAA is giving him the shaft

Beautiful rug, red carpet even. Road to riches.

    BIG sign:

NOONE IN YOUR SITUATION HAS EVER TROD ON THIS RUG. WE ARE FIGHTING TO BLOCK YOUR PATH AT THIS VERY MOMENT. WE AND OTHERS SUSPECT WE WILL WIN. YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE OUTOME OF THIS STRUGGLE. IF YOU RISK LEAVING THE SECURITY OF THE HARDWOOD FLOOR, YOU WILL NOT BE WELCOMED BACK. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Well, the "the rug was pulled out from under him," but the connotation of surprise, ignorance, or underhanded chicanery is inappropriate.

    Mike Williams = 0 Football for 2004

Of COURSE you don't let Williams back! How can anyone argue that it would be GOOD for college football?!

Mike Williams KNEW that there was NO guarantee that he would be eligible for the draft. And for someone to say that at the time the ruling was that he would have been eligilbe and that Williams didn't realize it could change is ABSURD!

We all know how the court system in this country works: the initial ruling comes down, then it is appealled. Plain and simple.

To let Williams back into college football would cause more problems. If a player signs with an agent, he's not an amateur any longer. PERIOD. End of story.

Problems start to snowball when you break a rule once. Next thing you know, you have several players trying to do the same thing and using the Williams case as a precedent.

I have no sympathy for Williams. If he didn't want to sit out of football for a year, then he shouldn't have signed!! If he sits out, he'll still get into the NFL, make millions of dollars playing a GAME that he loves, all while getting a free ride at the University of Southern California. Tell me, why again should I feel sorry for him?

I would love to see him come back so that Laron Landry can lay him out on a high pass over the middle in the Orange Bowl.

Am I one of the only people that hopes USC has a miserable failure of a season and that they never are so fortunate as to play LSU for a championship?
