The new bat will still hit the ball a long way it just has a much smaller sweet spot down to about 3 inches vs 10 or so from the composite or alloy bats that were used last year. Catch it in the sweet spot and the new bats are every bit as volatile as the old. Hit on the end or closer to the handle and you've got a can o corn.
I love Mikie Mahtook, after LSU won the regionals, I had my grandson down by the fence, he took the time to speak to my grandson who was only two at the time. I thought a lot of him then and still do. In fact my signature picture is Mikie speaking to my grandson, this was featured in the Times Picyaune the next day. I am facebook friends with his uncle. I personally do not know him either. But I do know that they are a very close family.
