I shouldn't need to tell you this but when certain candidates buy and traffick votes from the largest, poorest, and most (D) city in the state --

    undesirable outcomes usually happen.

Everyone I know, and that includes every racist hick and redneck, voted for Bobby Jindal (GO BRMHS BULLDOGS!)

Yeah? And what, exactly, did he/they do? I've been hearing this line over and over, but I still am not aware of what the staff did that was so great. How would a 'lesser' coach have gone about it that would have been so wrong? Yes, I think the team had a tough time during and after the storms. But I am honestly not sure how any other team would have handled it differently.
Did I say that they weren't? Do you honestly believe that I think that these men are capable of making it to their respective levels by not striving for excellence? My piece in this conversation is based on perception (operative term 'seems'). If you weren't in such a hurry to jump down my throat I might not have to explain that to you. You have to have very thick skin to be the football coach in this town. Quite frankly, I don't think Les has that. Maybe he does, but if the general perception is that he doesn't, then he might as well not.

But the fact that we had the same problems over and over and over again this year seems somewhat indicative of a disconnect between the staff and players. This years team seems so unmotivated and undisciplined it's not even funny.
Well, I know one that, instead of taking extra time to prepare for a championship, decided to fly to Dallas incase the team lost. There's your BULL FECES right there.

What would you have preferred the coaching staff? Just curious... I mean, is there anything that wasn't done you would have liked to have seen?

I don't understand what the general perception & reality have to do with each other. Why is it the same just because its a perception? Personally, I think he's got just as thick of a skin as any other head coach.

I wholeheartedly agree. We can only hope that Les bolts for the ‘Buff’s’ leaving an opening for Houston Nutt to come to Baton Rouge. Please? Santa? Is that too much to ask? :bncry:

I'm not saying that they did anything right or wrong whatsoever. I just don't understand exactly what it is that Miles did that was so noble and heroic. Yeah, it was definitely a tough time. But what did he do or say to the team that enabled them to cope so much more easily?
Because while the pressure and criticism may not actually bother him (have no idea if it does or not), his disposition may give the idea that it does, which will lead to further criticism and discontent among fans. From what I saw, he was never this tentative at OSU. I get the feeling that he's trying too hard to please everyone or to not say the wrong thing. And I certainly hope that's not how he handles himself with the team. From my observations of their play, it doesn't seem too far-fetched.

If by now, 3 months after the hurricane you haven't seen what Les Miles, the staff, players...et al. did during the hurricanes and still won 10 out of 11 regular season games, then there's no point in me wasting my time regurgitating it all. I want you to go ask any college coach about how Les Miles and his staff handled the hurricanes situations and please report back to me what their response is. Then you'll hear straight from a peer just how good a job they did.

On the Perception vs. Reality deal - To answer your question, I'll post your your exact statement:

Les is too tentative and often seems too content to just be wherever he is (in terms of football games, etc.), rather than constantly striving for excellence.

So, yes you did say that Les and the staff was content with where they are and not striving for excellence - which, again is totally ludicrous. Yes, LSU made mistakes and had turnovers, all football teams do but to say there was a "disconnect" between coaches and players is just nuts to me....HUH? Chaos - they won 10 frickin' games, won the SEC West, beat ranked opponents on and on....There are whole lot of teams around the country who wish they had a "disconnect" like that!

Why is it you just assume that Les believed LSU was going to lose, so "instead of taking time to prepare for a championship" as you put it, he had nothing else better to do than to hop on board the plane to Dallas with Skip? Come on Chaos, you can't be that naive to believe this! Did you stop to think for one second that the AD Skip Bertman, who is Les' boss might have ordered him to go - I guess that's totally out of the realm of possibilities.

Chaos if you don't like LES MILES and you think he sucks and should leave, be fired or whatever then just say that, then we all are crystal clear on where you stand.

ok....since you have now opened up this can of worms (and I honestly do not think it will be an issue, but this is a sports chat board) who do you want to replace Miles THIS year? What attractive candidates are out there that make you see nothing but great things for Tiger football in the future?

I am not bashing you, I have grown tired of that after our dance two weeks ago over the issue. I just want to know your rationale.....
