That's a key point. CU probably can't afford to lure away a top-tier coach, and will likely go with someone like Jon Embree (a UCLA assistant who played at CU under McCartney).
Ok, not jumping on either side of this one, because I'm not sure which way would be better for the long term. But For a school like LSU, everyone is available whether they have a job or not. It's all about the money and we have the cash and support to pay for whoever the hell we want. They chose Not to get the best coach out there, but ITO the best "available." There is not many coaches in any level of football that wouldn't find this an attractive place to coach, and we have the money to pay whatever it takes to get em here. So who's looking should not be a factor. Another point, since I saw something about Petrino's interview in another post. Interviews of proven coaches are pretty stupid if you ask me. There is nothing you can say in an interview that changes your coaching history. The interview is not why he didn't get the job, it was just the excuse, either he was not a serious candidate, or we didn't offer the right money. (Which I think he was never a serious candidate because he is always looking for another job).
[QUOTE= His style is different, not saying it is wrong (though I think it is) I don't understand..Not nit picking you...but what is his style? Too conservative? Too much of a gambler? Sneaking "beaver" shots behind the bench? Eating bugers when you really think he is adjusting his headset? Does he gag on boudan? Or Heaven forbid, does he take his plate of crawfish over to the nearest faucet and wash the spices off? Is his style going to the seccg every year? He is one for one so far. Is his style 11/2? No goals there, huh? DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like it. Great for Miles...great for LSU too. It's tough to be the one that follows the school legend, ask the Zooker. :hihi:
This is a very distorted view of the truth, IMO. Yea, obviously we all love LSU. Good school, good facilities, nice recruiting advantage. But honestly, atleast 30 other programs are comparable to LSU. There's nothing especially great about LSU that allows us to lure great coaches from good programs...
Yup. And LSU turns out looking great. Our coach goes 10-2 in his first season, winning the SEC West, but since he didn't look good enough doing it the fans want to see him gone. So Miles leaves LSU for a pathetic Colorado team & probably for less money, and less chance of future success. Surely this will attract all of the top coaches to LSU.
