Every team loses players, you have to recruit the position well enough to handle losses and busts. Miles/Crowton have absolutely failed in recruiting and developing QB's. No excuse for a 3rd season in a row without even an average journeyman QB.

Fanatic, it's been 3 years of bad QB play. 2 years of below average to bad o-line play. We bring in a hardcore "genius" (this should be a clue word for us, by now) WR coach that, apparently, has done nothing with the talent we have. The WRs have also digressed over the last couple of seasons.

The way CBS made it sound, AU's coaching staff went out looking for a QB as soon as they got there, and obviously, they found one. It's irritating that we have a program that, in my opinion, is more respectable than AU and can't get a QB to stick around or make a good decision.

All of this is a trend, and it falls on Miles.

Luckily for him, this year will be another Les Miles 2 or 3 loss season that keeps him away from a championship, again, but gets him enough wins to stick around. Maybe in another 3 years we'll get lucky and sneak into another NC game.

He can't make them better. He needs to cut his losses. Not an easy trick in CFB. However, there are examples of being able to do something about this kind of problem. Ole Miss picked up Masoli after Oregon kicked him off their team. Auburn picked up Newton from the JUCO ranks after some problems in Florida. Oregon is running some QB that no one really heard about and most people consider them to be the best in CFB right now. And it would seem as though the coaching staff MAY have given up on Sheppard as the future at that position. The players cannot address this structural, positional problem. The coaches have to, but they have failed. Miles has done a good job assembling talent on this team this year. That is not the issue. The issue is primarily at the QB position. If that isn't Miles' fault, who's fault is it? Are you actually blaming the QBs for their play in this game as well as others? Our QBs are pretty much the worst in the conference and damn near the bottom of Div. 1 football.

The O-line has been fine up until today. Dworcyk (or whatever) got ate up by cheap shot artists Fairley. It happens when you play good teams in the SEC.

Our QBs have to make quicker decisions and get the ball out of their hands faster, but they're scare of throwing picks.

SO every school loses their top 2, 2 out of 3 years?

No, IMO, J Lee and JJ were always gonna be back ups...

I'll give you that. There's no excuse for not having a better QB. But if we know one thing about Miles, it's how stubborn he is. He likes trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. I think he's FINALLY realized the error of his ways. Hence the courtship of the QB from GA who got kicked off the team.

I'd give him a 2nd chance at LSU if he can consistently complete a pass.

I agree with this statement. That has obviously changed because Miles hasn't been able to get in a starting-caliber QB for the offense. This past off-season, he seemed to rest on his laurels a bit by being content with having JJ and Lee. Poor decision, imo.
