Being a great coach doesn't necessarily mean you never make mistakes. It doesn't mean you always know the answer. To me, it means someone who knows how to correct mistakes - to learn from them - and to FIND the answers. CLM seems able to do these things. A coach's job is much more comprehensive than the things we see on game day. I think CLM fulfills ALL the duties of a coach extremely well and I enjoy his passion for teaching his players not just to play football, but lessons that will help them succeed in life. "I blame me" he said. And he meant it. And he'll learn from it - and so will the young men who play on his team. :geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux::geaux:
Another thing I like about Miles is that he doesn't throw anyone under the bus even though it may be clear to the fans that he should... He always deflects criticism towards himself and that is respectful. Miles rather have people bash him than one of the coaches, or infinately worse to him, one of the players. All head coaches should take that kind of ownership.
Absolutely. He definitely has integrity, honor, and knows how to be responsible. He is very admirable this way.
I think that is one of the many great things about him. No matter how much i dislike the defensive situation, I would like for him to handle it behind close doors and not a he said/he-said type thing in the media.
The DC experiment has got to be over. It's a complete joke. Even on that last series by Troy, you have them called on a very questionable hold that should have probably had Troy inside our 40 with 4 minutes to go. Then a 3rd and long and the guy just drops the ball past midfield. The defense was more passionate in the 2nd half, but many of the same mistakes were being made. Troy just seemed to let us off the hook. Thank goodness.
The holding call was a lucky break, no doubt. The 3rd and long I watched a bunch of times - Coleman stripped that ball, or at least disrupted the guy's ability to hold onto it. It's not like he was wide open. As I've said in a couple of threads now. Part of football is playing all 4 quarters. Troy didn't "let us off the hook". Troy just couldn't finish the game. LSU should never have been in the position. But it wasn't luck that saved LSU's night. It was mental toughness and probably conditioning. All that said - I'd LOVE to see a top shelf DC hire over the winter break. But I don't see it happening. I bet it's Mallory.
Alem was all but tackled in the backfield. I didn't think there was anything questionable about the hold, other than what is always questionable--that holding can be called on almost every play.
