Maybe the sleeping giant has finally gotten his wake up call.

I like the intensity. He had every right to be frustrated at that point. Watching all the penalities. Knowing how good this team can be and watching them hurt themselves with mistakes. I know I was frustrated.

Anyway, it was a great win. We had some good drives. Just gotta tighten up that pass Defense a bit.

LSU is #2 in the nation in pass efficiency defense, Tenessee is a really good passing team.

They were 12-30 with 186 total passing yards. Sounds like our pass defense was pretty tight. Both long touchdown passes were just perfect throws by Crompton.

Agree with you Gimp. Our defense is superb and I love 'em but the only thing that surprises me is the vulnerability against the long pass. Was it Miss. St. that a receiver came wide open for a TD? I know we can't shut everybody out and for the most part, we've shut offenses down but it just seemed like that wasn't supposed to happen with our secondary's talent, and speed. I guess anyone can blow an assignment once and a while.

I can remember back when we had no secondary and I'd be in constant fear when we played teams who were effective in passing. Someone correct me here if I'm wrong but I think pre-Saban our was when our secondary left a lot to be desired.

Totally agree. We forced them to throw the ball down the field where completion percentage is not good. Unfortunately, they completed two long ones for TDs. With the type of football that we play, that's an anomaly, considering they put in a RSFR with little playing experience. It also goes to show how great a receiver that Meachem is.

The best part about it is that Pelini stuck to his guns, and didn't change a thing about how we played defense the whole game. We were getting pressure with only our front four, forcing Tenn to move the pocket and roll Crompton out. They played the kind of football we wanted them to play.

Even Saban's first couple of defenses were pretty horrible. We didnt start getting good on defense until 2002. In 2001, we won the SEC with the 75th best total defense, 108th against the pass. It was pretty wretched.
