It's Russell's fault for choosing LSU. Still, I don't think the issue is that he can't be coached. Rather, it's that those around him lack the ability to coach.
Running QB will always have more success in Miles offense than a pocket QB. Don't even understand why we recruit passers when we don't recruit good WR's and don't have a play book designed for passing QB's. Either find a QB who will have success in this offense(has to be a running threat) or change the offense.
Agreed. He's shown flashes. A better coaching staff would/could design plays that best utilizes his talents. They would surely recognize that he's not a WR, yet for some reason, our staff still thinks he can be one.
Showing flashes in a Les Miles coached offense has to be nearly impossible. Les Miles plainly does everything in his power to smother out any offensive production. Any surviving remnants of offensive production must emanate from a player's sheer instinct and willpower. It really makes we wonder of what could have been had Russell played on an adequately coached team. The regret Russell feels for coming to LSU must be immeasurable. I'm not hailing him as the second coming. He's just one of the glaring examples put forth to display Miles' inability to develop and utilize talent.
So let me get this straight. Miles purposely gave a poor development effort in RS but all of our 1st round picks he gave a better effort? Miles really held Ridely back too. That poor kid. Your argument is lame. I have not a clue what miles can do to make RS catch a phucking ball. That kid has rocks for hands.
Maybe we should try him at left tackle next. He has about as much a chance of succeeding there as he does at wideout.
My point exactly. He's not a wide receiver and never will be. Yet Miles attempted to switch him to that position and has since rendered him useless. I fear that it's coming across as me extolling the virtues of Shepard. I assure you that is not what's occurring here. You can't evaluate the situation when you're basing that analysis off of his performance as a wide receiver. I'm in no way hailing Shepard as a quarterback. Could he have been any less productive at quarterback than what we've had these last few years? I've heard all about how he cannot throw. Surely he couldn't have thrown the ball with any less skill than Jefferson displayed. Jefferson wasn't that great on his feet and to say that he could throw is humorous at best.
Again. Why would miles intentionally ruin the kid? If he was all that at QB why didn't he start? Did he bone the Miles's wife? RS is an egg of a 5 star.
