Traditions have to start somewhere. At my highschool we did the alma mater afer the game as well. It was a nice bonding moment. I mean its not like he wants to set kittens on fie for a pregame sacrafice. Just relax.

This isn't like this is a surprise. He already said he wanted to do that when he was hired. He started that tradition at Okie State, too.

Did we crucify Saban for coming over and thanking the student section after wins?

Send it to me in a private message and I'll take the shot for you. :hihi:

My own shot though will be:

    1. You don't start a traidtion, you just do something and if many others follow you can continue it then it becomes a tradition.

    2. The Tigah Walk copied what they did at ole Miss in the grove and Auburn, they were doing this before us. Now it is our tradition but it wasn't when Hallman first did it, it became a tradition when the ensuing coaches also did it. Should he not have started it?

Actually, Miles did this at OSU too, and it turned into something really special. I have mentioned it before, but when he started leading the alma mater after the game, everyone in the stadium that knew the words joined in, and if you were an OSU fan and didn't know the words, you stayed at your seat anyway until it was over.

I think it is great that he wants to do something. He isn't changing other traditions, he is just adding to them. And if it gets the same response at LSU as it did at OSU, it is really gonna be something because of the larger number of fans that the stadium holds.

Saban went to the students section when we won big games because they were loud and participating. It wasn't something scripted it was something he felt he needed to do outn of gratitude.

I personally don't think this singing thing is that great.

What will happen is immediately after the game, the players will shake hands and will come straight to the band / student section area. We will play just the second verse of the Alma Mater. Then the players will leave... The band will then do their normal thing of playing the halftime show again, playing Let Us Break Bread, and singing the Alma Mater themselves.

My only grudge with it is that they will only sing if they win.... Seems like people only want to be proud of their school if they win....

Thats only because when we lose people are hualing ass to get outside and start drinking again, while trying to beat traffic off campus.

When we win no one gives a **** about traffic

    I like the idea.

Nobody is knocking Meyer for starting new traditions at Florida.

Every coach comes in & adds something of his own to the program, that's how traditions start.
