It's like my wife and I say when people litter or generally make a nuisance of themselves -

In today's society the motto is "It's all about me".

From the overdone SUV's to the bling to the gear to the nonchalant or aggressive attitute towards others...

Eff everybody else as long as I've got mine.

Pretty sad if you ask me. :dis:

Im just wondering why all these older people are continuously instulting the college students who post on this forum. You were once a college student and unless you are some kind of priest or nun, you did all these things that the current students are doing. If you deny that, well then i guess you just got too stoned and drunk for the four years you were a student and hallucinated that you were some kind of saint who never partied and never use "vulgar language." Honestly, if you want to talk football and tradition, age should pay no measure, just because i wasnt there does not mean i cant appreciate its greatness. I've been attending lsu games since i was 8, so thats over a third of my life, does it make me any less of an lsu fan just beacause i havent had the opportunity to go games for the past 30 years? All us young guys are asking for is respect, even if you dont agree with the way we express ourselves at games, respect the fact that we have the freedom to do so. :eek:ldskule:

You are asking for someone to respect you for disrespecting them. Asking you to act with the same decorum that one would hopefully exhibit in other venues is not disrespecting you. A sporting event does not dismiss common decency, and buying a ticket does not compare to the investment that others made in building the traditions that are part of all great universities. Those traditions are not being respected by some drunk wanting to yell A@#$%$#.

Respecting your freedom(s) and your intellect and maturity in using your freedom(s) are two entirely different things.

    With age comes perspective.

You will most certainly notice this the older you get.

PLUS: You must first GIVE respect in order to GET respect.

The world won't change that just for you and your friends.

this post is a perfect example of today's youth, they want, even demand respect, but lack the wisedom to realize it is a two way street.

I respect a man who does not curse in public or in front of my wife and kids or business associates. This does not mean that a man cannot voice his opinion. To ask society to change it's opinion of you for screaming obscenities is beyond my abilities. Chances are IF you decide to abandon the practice later, it will be written off as you say, just youths having a little too much wine and song.

However if you decide it is "acceptable" and continue to impress the world with your mastery or lack thereof of the english language, you will suffer to be sure.

Older people don't look down on youth, inside every old person is a young person who wonders what went wrong. There maybe just the slightest chance that these older people did indeed live through some of these things among others and are trying to help you with advice. I guess sometimes the best lessons are learned in the "experience" itself.

I wouldn't worry, this is a small enough issue. One day you'll know better. Hopefully. good day.

so you don't respect any man who curses in public? you've never cursed when you dropped something and somebody overheard it? You also must not respect anybody who comes out of LSU....(your future leaders of the country).

just because you may be older than me doesn't mean you are anyway better than me, nor am i better than you.

This makes no sence. Respect is a "two-way street." If I give you respect, your "getting" it without giving it. How about we just respect each other because we're all humans? I don't look down on you because your opinon differs. I don't personally assault any one of you for having an opinion. Yet a select few of you choose to assault me and others because we are "young" and aren't mentally prepared to make mature decisions. Men much younger than me ruled country or even empires. The human brain has not evolved that much to make the teen age range stupider since then.

We were once young. We admire your idealism that we possessed as well, and the belief that we knew everything is reflected as well in your comments.

But you haven't been old yet. if you're lucky, maybe you'll get the chance.
Reality needs to be experienced. At this point you're guessing. We've been there.

    With age, wisdom.

You don't know how much you don't know.

Trust me, you learn a lot between 20 to 30.

    And also 30 to 40.

But I swear, from 40 to 49, I'm getting dumber. Just ask my wife.

We all felt JUST LIKE YOU DO when we were young.

But time, responsiblities, and reality had other ideas.
