I have 2 kids. And I am not saying that I use the chant I dont. What I am saying is this is bull**** complete bull****. As far as the comments about domestic tranquility or whatever you want to call it, that is bull**** too. If someone cuts me off in traffic, that offends me, I dont have the right becuase I am "simple offended" and beat the crap outta him. Thats called ROAD RAGE! Now if someone is directly causing bodily harm to myself or someone in my vicnity then at that point you do have the right to beat the crap out of them because that is called "Self Defense" I could stand up in front of any of you and call you and your family ever single name or word that I can think of and YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Any action you do will be considered assualt. I feel the same way if someone is gonna curse in front of my kids, BUT PERSONALLY I am little less sensitive I guess then some people hear becasuse "@sshole" does not offend me. I am gonna beat the crap outta them, EVENTHOUGH I know if they dont not fight back I can get in a lot of trouble. If the students want to chant @sshole, if you are offended by it TOUGH **** there is NOT One damn thing you can do about. And taking away TIGER RAG is not gonna stop it, as everyone saw during the game this weekend. As a form of protest I would hope that the students find a new way to chant it during another song, because if the ONLY reason the powers that be removed the song is because of the word that the students were using, then that does fall under a RIGHT, THE RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH. Next the are gonna remove FREE SPEECH ALLEY because it might offend someone. Some people really need to take a look around and get a hold of their lives, because this bull**** is a complete waste of air and time.
It is pretty sad to see certain students saying "We'll cuss as much as we want and as loud as we want. We could care less about everyone else."
and its pretty sad to see non-students trying to tell the student section what to do....we're not hurting anybody....we're not rioting in the stands.... if i remember correctly, remember Meet the Fockers?....a little kid kept saying....@#$....@########$%.....and THAT movie was PG-13. So if you are offended by that then please refrain from letting your children see any major motion picture....sending them to high school....going to football games....or hanging out with friends until they turn 18.
houtiger pretty much sums it up. I'm all for freedom of speech but there is a line that is drawn when you are in public. I personally am not a family guy. I don't have kids but if I did I would not want them exposed to certain words or actions in public. It is one thing to take your kids into a bar anywhere and say to the patrons, "please don't say foul words in front of my children", but Tiger Stadium is and always will be property of the citizens of the state of Louisiana. The taxpayers of the state,along with the students of the university will have to realize they can't have one without the other. I understand both sides but defer to decorum.
Thats the thing....its NOT the F word! Its A**hole.... Its also not like the profanity in the student section has gotten worse and worse. Its always been "a**hole" and "kick their a**"....its not going to progressively get worse, its always been this way and will stay this way, with or without "tiger rag". I understand parents with kids want to sensor what their kids hear....but i am willing to bet that they hear more "clear" profanity by adults before entering the stadium than "muffled" chants of a**hole by the students while the band is playing and 80,000 other fans making noise!
I don't care if you say it or not, *I* still say it sometimes out of habit. However, if people around me asked me not to, then I would stop. Just saying that the general attitude some of you are displaying is pretty sad. Sometimes showing respect to others is a good thing........

Nobody heard it because the band wasn't playing along. Nobody is trying to do that. They are trying to keep jerks from ruining a traditional LSU song at an LSU game. Some day you will leave LSU and possibly even grow up. And if you start that chit anywhere in the stadium outside of the student section, JS will whip your butt and then the marshalls will escort you to the door.
