Ole Miss banned the Confederate Flag from their campus. It served as the Rebel's school flag for decades. I believe Ole Miss changed their flag to the big "M" about 13 years ago.
i am not a constitutional lawyer, but i dont think that is possible. they probably banned all flags from stadiums/sporting events. you cant ban a flag from campus.
What is really is offensive is that our mascot is named after a battalion of Louisians soldiers serving in the Confederate army. How dare we pay homage to a group that fought to keep thier slaves, as ALL confederate soldiers owned slaves. I think we should change our mascot to something less offensive and not associated with the hatefilled evil Confederacy. :dis:
They banned it from sporting events. If you want to walk through the Grove on a Thursday afternoon with one on a pole noone can stop you.
As I have said once before...... if there is something that offends you then there is a good bet that there is something that you stand for that offends someone else just the same. People need to grow up. Whatever it is that "offends" them just live with it, don’t look at it and don’t worry with it. Move on and live your life and GET OVER IT!….. Use the energy that is spent being offended to give a voice to and fight for the things that will make a difference in someone’s life. As I say circle of influence, circle of concern. If I can influence it I will be concerned with it. Heather :geauxtige
