I heard that Bob Stoops is also going to be offered the Bama HC job, too. He'd be the guy that I'd be interested in.

And I feel it was out of line on his part to be rude and make a veiled threat in a private message. If someone wants to send me a PM then they should use it for constructive purposes. Not for hiding their "bad side" from everyone else.

I would crawl naked on my hands and knees over miles of broken glass (not a pretty picture) to welcome Bob Stoops to Alabama and it's not that far fetched as some might think. Bob is making bunches of money at OU but Bama could match it. Bob has OU doing great things and I think he could match that at Bama. The NCAA might be looking into the OU program and I sure don't want Bama to match that. Bob has made some public statements about facilities at OU not being to his liking, in that department Bama would be an upgrade for him. Perhaps he would just like a new challenge.

So with Saban and Stoops looming, I assume Bama wont have a coach for a week or so?

IMO, I think that Sttops will be in the NFL next year or stay at OU until he makes the jump to the pros.

I am going to be completely honest and say "I don't know" and anyone who does say they know is a liar. This search has been so tight lipped that all we have really gotten so far are a few hints. The people Terry and I have listened to do everything but sleep with Mal Moore and they aren't giving out anything. We make our guesses just like the rest of the media though we like to think our guesses are a bit better founded. Saban has been the best guess since the process started. Rodriguez is another good guess. Spurrier was a guy we would probably have jumped on if he said he was interested. We did not actively pursue Steve Spurrier. Stoops falls into the same category as Spurrier. If Bob Stoops called saying he would like to talk with us about becoming our head coach I am sure we would fall all over ourselves setting up a meeting. I still think Rodriguez will be the guy and I don't think he will be insulted for being #2 on our list. Just being mentioned with names like Saban, Spurrier and Stoops should be a compliment.

When will an announcement come? I would look for something being leaked from another site before Bama breaks a story. ESPN, CBS Sportsline, West Virginia message boards, one of those will scoop the story maybe as early as next week. If the Dolphins lose maybe Saban will committ. After the bowl announcements maybe Rodriguez will committ. That is as honest as I can be about the situation. I had heard someone has been talked to and details were being worked out even down to how much the coordinators and assistants would be paid. That makes me believe it is Saban. If it was Rodriguez someone would have said we had been given permission to speak with him unless all this is being done between an agent and a consultant.

Rodriguez will not wait forever as the fallback candidate. He has his current situation to think about. Saban and Stoops could probably both be bought, and Saban has a history of unexpected resignations. But they could be bought away again, too. Bama needs someone to earn his spurs at Bama and stick around for a decade like Spurrier or Tuberville. Stoops might be willing to retire at Bama, but Nick has happy feet. Rodriguez is their man and they would be foolish to lose him.

Red I really think Rodriguez will stay at WVa if he doesn't get a call from Bama this year.

Rich Rodriquez will be the next coach at Alabama. I know you all don't like to hear about unofficial, unnamed sources, but word out of the WVU athletic department is the contract has already been approved.

PS: I don't care who the Bama coach is. I've never made a post like this and wouldn't unless I'm pretty confident of the source.
