Today's B'ham News reports that in fact bama AD mal Moore says that Chuck Neinas has been retained to assist in the bama search for a new HC.

I don't doubt the veracity of Terry's information, however he just comes off as a little too pompous for my tastes. He tosses out little nuggets then implies that the details are only for him and a few higher ups to know. For me, quit tiptoeing around and give us some sources or shut up.

I never knew that Terry said which "Chuck" he was referring to. If it was Neinas, I would sure like to take him on his threat to have him post here:hihi:

Terry was probably refering to Chuck the Auburn poster who used to live on tigerforums a few years ago. I will just be polite and say we had issues with him and let it go at that.

Terry does have good information. I don't always agree with dangling tidbits before people but I guess all of us have done it on occasion. I know I can be terrible on tidefans working the crowd like 50 year old stripper at a frat party but in general I try to be helpful, give honest answers and keep the place from turning into a romper room. I don't think I have been guilty of dangling any carrots in front of you guys.

I do think Saban has been our #1 target from day one. Spurrier was a hot name but never did have an actual offer on the table from Alabama. I don't doubt we would have jumped on him if he said he was interested. I hope we take Rodriguez, I think he would be the best hire we could make and I have followed and liked him since he caught my attention at Tulane. Yes we could get Rodriguez, West Virginia does not have Alabama money to pay their coach and assistants. Alabama facilities are much better and I have no doubt Rodriguez would welcome the challenge at Alabama.

What we really need is for someone to come to Alabama, kick some ass, tell some to pack their bags and take control of the program. Mike Shula never had that look of someone really in charge. Losing a game didn't seem to bother him. The team needed a coach not a buddy. Nick Saban would do all this. Maybe Rodriguez would be tough enough but whoever it is will look more in charge than Shula did.

Exactly, he hinted that he knew about all kinds of problems Shula had off the field, but wouldn't divulge. Then, he made a number of insinuations about improprieties made by Saban and LSU in recruiting (only to say Bama wanted Saban.) He was being pompous, an attribute he should save for his own board, not display on a visiting one.

Excellent points, bayoutider. I also think Rodriguez is a comer, who just might work out at Bama.

Alabama has a search committee of four. I think it is Mal Moore, Malcom Portera, Paul Bryant jr and Angus Cooper. We have hired a consultant. I believe the search committee zeroed in on Saban and he is still the main man they are after. All the media seems to think Rodriguez would be the best fit at Bama. No doubt the committee will hire who they think is the best man for the job but I am firmly behind hiring Rich Rodriguez and have been since I thought Shula was going to be fired.

I think Terry is just trying to lead us to some conclusions without being an overt rumormonger, Stacey. He is the administrator of a major Alabama board and he must be as responsible as possible during all of this. He surely can't post information here that he can't post on his own board. Sometimes we just have to read between the lines. Terry has not been dishonest with us, nor rude, despite the barbs that are cast by a few locals.

The Grad taking him to task publicly over a private message was out of line, in my opinion, and Terry has a right to be annoyed.
