Talking about when he played in high school.

Ten football seasons have come and gone since Kevin Faulk was torturing opposing defenses in the Acadiana area.

A lot more years than that, though, are going to have to pass before those who attempted to tackle him forget his dynamic career at Carencro High.

It certainly wouldn't take a long search to find a high school football fan in these parts to submit Faulk's name as the best player ever to play in these parts.

Many of those will be recollecting memories of Faulk's storied high school career as he and the New England Patriots strive for a third Super Bowl victory in four years Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles in Jacksonville, Fla.

Jackie Harrelson, who was Lafayette High's defensive coordinator during Faulk's reign with the Golden Bears, wouldn't argue with any lofty praise heaped upon the former high school All-American.

"There was only one guy that I've ever seen that brought as much excitement to a game and that was Cedric McIntyre at Robert E. Lee High in Montgomery, Ala., who went to Auburn,'' Harrelson said. "In this area, though, I've never seen anyone like Kevin.''
