it makes me nervous too, but for different reasons. if we were at 10, even undefeated we would be relying on the luck - or more specifically, the hopefully lack of - for 9 other teams. at 2, we control our own destiny!

its awsome. LSU will be on the map an an "elite" top 5 program the whole time i am attending school here! My first year was when CLM finished #5, and its only gotten better since.

and i still have 4 Football seasons left:thumb:.

To put it in perspective, in '89 I was a freshman. The Tigers were #7 preseason and it was Hodson's senior year. People were talking Hodson for Heisman. We know what happened at the season opener at College Station and the following decade :bncry:

I'm excited for you youngsters, you guys have it easy: electricity, telephones, internet, Saban/Miles.

Auburn could have started that year off at #3 and they still wouldn't have made the National Championship game.USC and Oklahoma were 1,2 the whole year

Auburn started at 18 and actually tied OU for 2nd place late in the year. If the polls don't start until the beginning of November things could have turned out differently.

You might also want to ask them about being named pre-season National Champions. Remember they were voted 1 or 2 2003 and opened with 2 straight losses?

Bad timing for Auburn in 2003. They had to play the #1 and #2 teams in the nation.

    That's the ticket! :thumb:

I've always wished there were no preseason polls, like the BCS does. At least wait 4 weeks into the season and see what's going on- there are always some big upsets.

You sure? One of the losses was to USC, but the other was to Ga. Tech. Were they number 2 then?
