Other teams winning out (that would exclude the Gators :hihi: ) like Oklahoma and West Virginia or a few close games by either USC or LSU that introduce doubt to the selection process. I'd like to believe it's a sure thing but death and taxes already own that.
OU would be the only team that could throw a wrench in it. But I believe that voters will look at the fact that both LSU and USC have played them and beat them in the MNC game within the last 4 years and give everyone the match up they want to see. Forget WVU, They would be Auburn of 04 regardless of how close our games are.
"I don't care who you are, that's pretty funny right there." Anybody have a copy of last week's game featuring that PAC-1 powerhouse UCLA team? Don't let it bother you. California has beaches, weather, and uscvball...not much else. If the SEC isn't the best, why does every other conference try to compare against us? Each year we hear the SEC isn't the best, yet we still send more teams to bowls, still finish with more ranked teams, and still win more titles than any other conference...and that's after we finish beating the hell out of each other. Miles hit the nail on the head when he said USC has an easier road to the title game. They didn't like hearing that, so they'll go out of their way to pretend that the Pac-1 is something more. Anyone with half a brain knows that they can't hold a candle to the SEC. Just enjoy the fact that we get to witness real football all season while they continue to beat up on scrubs. Hopefully the two best teams will play for the title and if one is from the SEC, just hope that team (LSU, Florida) is still healthy and does what they would do (to USC, Oklahoma, W. Virginia, etc.) right now...win the title. SEC=:crystal: :crystal: :crystal: Pac-1=:crystal:
ok people, for the last time, the reason the pac10 is overrated by computer rankings is that their conference plays round robin. and thats the right way to do it, the other conferences have it wrong. so pac10 teams play 9 conf games--every one else plays 8. so on the whole, each pac10 team plays one less rentawin, and even though some teams play tough nonconf oppts it makes a big difference.
The only reason I think this is the year that counts is because USC/LSU seems to be the most intriguing match up out there. After all, both of us beat OU, so do we really want to see one of those games again? If we can make it through Fla (twice, in all likelyhood if you count the SECCG) and don't stumble along the way and you guys do the same, hopefully we'll both end up 1-2. But you never can tell what those BCS computers are going to spit out.
crap. OU would deserve to be there because they have to win a conf champ game. pac10 should be barred from NC game til they get a conf champ game.
'05, rough year, still finished top 5. '06 lost to Nat. Champ, and only team to beat Nat. Champ. Slightly tougher competition than oh I don't know, UCLA!
