I was wondering how many of you guys follow the Saints. Also, I was wondering if any of you guys have heard the rumor of the Saints moving their franchise to Mississippi's Gulf Coast. Is there any credibility to this?

    I follow the Saints.

As far as I know, there is no move planned as the Saints have a contract with the Saints for the next couple years. Kathleen Blanco (boooo) is trying to renegotiate with them and is playing hardball and only giving them a fraction of the money they asked for and renovations on the Superdome instead of a new stadium.

But then again, I'm not the most knowledgable person on this matter.

I think most uf us here are Saints fans although some may still be in the closet(or paper bag).
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's time for someone else to have 38 years of suffering. The Saints moving to Mississippi has been batted around for a year or two, it's highly unlikely but not impossible.

I follow the Saints, but I dont get very upset if they lose and if they win its a novelty so to speak. I root for the Saints more for the fact I am rooting for my State, however if the Saints lose about 5 minutes after the game I am either doing something else or simply not caring.
However with LSU if they lose, much different story.
In short I am a Saints fan but I have very little invested emotionally so to speak with them. I am basically cheering for my state in the NFL...

I will always be a Saints fan, but won't allow myself to get upset with a loss. I have a lot friends from MS and they are some of the biggest Saints fans I have ever met. There is a huge Saints following in southern MS, especially Biloxi. I could see them moving to the area, if and only if, the state paid for a new stadium. Hell, maybe a casino could buy the Saints and build a casino/stadium on the beach.

If you think the state of Louisiana is in too bad of shape financially to support a team, who in their right mind would think that Mississippi would be any better.

    Better corporate sponsorship - nope
    Bigger fan base - nope
TV market size increase - nope
    Venue in place - nope

THERE IS NO REASON THE SAINTS WOULD EVER CONSIDER THAT MOVE. EVER!!!! That is just some BS garbage that the state (or local sportscasters) may push to move some of the financial burden to another state. Stick it on the border and split some costs...not a good idea. Locals may like the idea somewhat b/c it relieves the financial burden locally, but they'll still have a "relatively" local team. It's just stupid.

They'll move a bigger market city that has some resemblence of a healthy economy which would be able to put fans in the stands and corporate dollars into the team. Los Angeles is a good bet, but San Antonio is also up there.

Seriously, when this was bantered around a couple of years ago, there was talk of building a new stadium close to the state line (Bay St. Louis?) so they would be more of a regional team. If I understood correctly, the cost of the stadium would be split by the Saints, the casinos, and MS taxpayers. Seems like it had pretty good support from the key figures in MS until Foster made the current deal with the Saints.

Raylsu is right though. Benson prolly never really considered it. He just used it as leverage.
