No question football is the hardest, since so much of it is subjective. Who are a bunch of writers and coaches (okay, SIDs assistant coaches, or even SID interns who vote on behalf of the head coach) to say definitively that an Auburn team that ran the table in 2004---and had more first round draft picks taken in the following draft than any other school---was not as good as either USC or Oklahoma heading into the Orange Bowl? What if you're a solid team w/ just the right mix of players...but not in a power conference? There will never be a "George Mason of football" that can have a great mix that works well that leads to a once in a lifetime season for that school...well, you can, but at Tulane and Tommy Bowden found out, it doesn't mean crap if you do. Next hardest is NCAA Tourney, then baseball. Baseball is by far the easiest if you're a good team since, well, it's a "National Championship" in name only. A better name would be: West/Southwest/Southeast Championship. Also, the regional/super regional setup definitely favors the high seeds much more than does basketball. Again, it's football...by a mile.
Agreed. Football definately is the toughest to win a National title in. I would say (toughest to easiest): 1.) Football - majority of your opportunity to MAKE the title game comes from voters 2.) Basketball - have to be flawless for 6-straight wins 3.) Baseball - there is room for error in a double-elimination format for regionals, super regionals and then the CWS
I think basketball for a few reasons... 1. In football, you play 12 games, but 6-7 are against far inferior competition 2. In March Madness, you play 6 really good teams 3. football, normally the best team wins. In basketball, as George Mason is proving, that isn't always the case It is certainly really close between football and basketball though
I agree with Clair Each are tough, but basketball's competition and talent is more level compared to football. I just think certain factors such as bad shooting can kill a basketball team on any one night. Still a pretty close call between the two sports.
I say basketball. A championship is easy in football: just claim one whenever you want, according to fUSC. Besides, we have two in football and a handfull in baseball, none in basketball.
Good point! Hopefully we can add basketball to that list in the NEAR future! :geauxtige  ...just claim one whenever you want...
Not entirely so....Just ask the PAC 10 schools. They play 11 games (unless the NCAA approves a 12th regular season game) and no conference title game.
Next year and the years to come, the SEC will have 12 regular season games + the seccg, so we will have to be 13-0!
all of this 13-0 B/S is kinda funny considering we had a loss the year we won it all... On most years, there aren't 2 unbeatens...
