1. Do you feel he has handle adversity well so far in his career? You don't think the "boo birds" are waiting for his first incompletion. I hope he can handle it. I hope this galvanizes the team and they rally around him. I hope that you have nothing more to complain about the rest of the season, but with your history I have less than 0 percent faith in that.
  2. Hell, I hope he wins the Heisman. That would mean we won a national championship and most likely an undefeated season.

But I'm a realist. And this happening at this late hour is complaint worthy, to say the least.
  3. A heisman does not mean a national championship, until recently that trophy was a curse on the team in the big game.
  4. It is smart and LSU is doing it.
  5. A Heisman winning QB on THIS LSU team.

    Yes it does.

  6. You're probably right... but I think I have a better chance of winning the power ball.
  7. My response was made prior to knowing that there was a curfew and was not meant to be a commentary on leadership qualities. I was trying to elude to the fact that he is a 20 year old college student @ LSU, and as such, it is not surprising that he may go out and have some fun once in a while. Unfortunately, on this particular night, it led to a fight.

I would certainly prefer that as the senior QB on a highly rated team, he would have shown better leadership and would have respected and promoted the curfew amongst his teammates. I also would have preferred he show better leadership at the time of the incident. My comment was that his background, i.e. upbringing, or alcohol may have played significant roles in why that wasn't the case. I was also trying to address the comment that the poster made that he would prefer to be 6-6 than have a person with such poor leadership qualities. I disagree with that summation.

To answer your question, I am a former Army officer and a pediatrician. I have held many leadership positions, and hopefully have done them well. I have also made mistakes along the way, but have always maintained it's not the mistakes you make, but how you respond to them that matters. Modeling good behavior also matters, for sure, but I for one will give JJ the benefit of doubt, provided no serious crimes were committed, and allow him to learn and grow from this incident. I will also respect what CLM decides is appropriate disciplinarily.

  8. Well you knocked that slow hanging curve ball over the fence.
    +1
  9. This just in: Most of istsl's threads suck. This is not believed to be an exception.
  10. ESPECIALLY with the lawsuit happy society we live in. You NEVER wanna go into a situation like this without proper representation.

Anybody know who the "victims" lawyer is? Is he/she an "ambulance chaser" type. If so...that will shed some light.

Otherwise...none of us know what the heck we are talking about, and I will just crawl back into my "post baseball season" hole until we get the real scoop, or until September 3rd...whichever comes first.

It just sucks to have this kind of negative news hovering over the team.
