I want Mettenberger to start only if he takes the job away from Lee with superior performance. Not because he's new.

    thank you

some people around here think he has no shot to make an impression this season

he comes with much the same accolades as Newton did from a JC standpoint

Cam Newton was a very special case. Period. Not every JUCO transfer is going to play at that level...to think they will is just foolish.

And we've been through this before...

Lee throws a bunch of interceptions as a freshman...PUT JEFFERSON IN!!

Jefferson gets sacked all season as a sophomore...RUSSELL SHEPPARD WILL SAVE US!!

Russell Sheppard can't throw...Jefferson gets arrested...BRING IN METT!!

The grass is always greener for an LSU fan. But here's a fact that nobody can dispute...the last couple of GREAT quarterbacks we had didn't win us a NC. We win when we have a solid running game and a great defense. That's LSU ball. Lee will do fine.

Word. Run the ball please... with a happy mix of about 15 to 20 throws. I'm no coach but something tells me our running backs can hold the team up.

Probably a good idea to run the ball, especially against the Ducks.

Well, I can see I'm not going to be able to sneak any bs by you.:D

My point is, however, that with lots of talented players around him a quarterback can win even if he's just good at managing the clock and taking care of the ball. McElroy and Wilson both illustrate this.

    It's never a good idea to be one-dimensional against a top-5 team.

I don't think anyone here is saying be one-dimensional, but running the ball definitely give us an advantage given the past. I mean, if we average >5-8 yards a carry. Use the talent. Mix some "down the field" throw to keep em honest. I'm just sayin'

If Mett isn't "ready"...what is it going to take to get him ready quickly? What is the word on his understanding of the offense, physical conditioning, etc? I don't understand how the nations top JUCO player can't be ready to step in and play at this point.
