there used to be a feature that had an icon next every post. it was one color if you had read the post, another if it was new. i dont see that on this version. i used it all the time. it was especially helpful on my phone to be able to go to the first unread post. the star icon now to click on to take you to first unread post isnt accurate. i find myself still wading through a lot of previously read posts.
Man, it's going to take me about 100 more times for me to learn that clicking on 'Home' at the top of the page will take me to the tigerfan home page and not the forum home page.
I miss the "view new posts" option. The new option isn't bad, but the "new posts" option showed you what all you hadn't already looked at.
It's still available. The little yellow star to the left of the tread title indicates new posts in that thread. If you click the star it will take you to the first unread post.
My compliments, Brett. The site has a cleaner, modern look that I can get used to very quickly. Still getting the hang of negotiating my way around, but I have no doubt you've taken the best site on the web, and made it better. One question: will the chat room be coming back? It was great watching the games on TV last year and posting live with the rest of the crew.
Thanks MC. I'm going to bring back the new posts menu as well as chat. Just need some time to get everything in order but it's coming.
Not what I was talking about. Used to be an actual link you click that said view new posts. It showed all the threads that had just been recently updated. It was fewer than the view today's posts. Not really a big deal, but I liked it.
Actually it's because the developer didn't put the code into the new style to display it. We aren't taking contributions any more as the revenue it generated wasn't enough to support the site and it created a division between those that did contribute and those that didn't. The entire concept was quite interesting with regards to the growth and personality of the site. Anyone interested in psychology and sociology would have a field day with the various dynamics and how everything played out with the system we used for so long. In the end the contributor system combined with poor management on multiple fronts, failed in my opinion and created a forum with a very narrow personality that shunned new members that didn't agree with the prevailing point of view. That isn't good for a forum who's purpose is to provide a platform for discussion where all points of views should be heard. All is well though because we're back on track and quickly getting back to our roots as a great place for discussion and debate. :thumb:
