What? One player or two can change a scheme and chemistry throughout a team. A lot changes that you don't see in games. This is kind of like Florida should be number one until they lose. BS. That was last year. How was the 2000 Bama team without Alexander and Samuels? They had the same staff and scheme, and a lot of players came back with a number three ranking...
In the specific example you have mentioned, it was Alexander and Samuels that led that team. They were gone in '00. So, different players.... Fact is, it was a different staff because it was a player motivated/coached team more than a staff motivated/coached team. What I said was that the play makers on the WVU team were back; have been for the third year now. Staton and White are a duo that few teams in the nation can claim.
That was exactly my point. You don't know who leads a team. Things change each year inside a locker room. Do you think others outside of Alabama knew Alexander and Samuels were carrying the team? No.
I'm not arguing about predictions. The original arguement was if they deserve a title shot for going undefeated. What I'm saying is this: After THIS season is over. WVU is unbeaten, LSU and USC each have 1 loss, are you going to give WVU a title shot because they beat UGA in '06? If your answer is yes then I disagree completely. That game does not have a d@mn thing to do with the regular season that just ended. I'm not even talking about injuries. Injuries are unavoidable and unpredictable. It's the MENTAL and physical grind that the Big East doesn't have. WVU had to get up for 2 games last year. ANYBODY can step up for TWO games (except Notre Dame obviously). Not everybody can show up 6-7 times a year. 6-7 games that if you don't play your best you're GONNA lose. Not might lose.
Where a team ends up at the end of the season isn't a prediction? To which I showed: Then why, below, are you throwing out the LSU, USC, scenario with one loss?? If that scenario plays out, you can bet the farm that WVU plays in the NC Game.........which is what I've tried to say- regardless of whether CFB fans outside the Big East feel like they deserve it or not. And I'm not even talking to you.... See post below, it was in reference to it- you're getting desparate.
Very weak schedule, but like it or not, they're a BCS conference (which I don't agree with). My point is, their bid is automatic for the conference champion, not at large. I understand if you're talking 2 teams getting a bid. They're lucky to even have one.
yet, i see them losing two....write this down so if it happens, you'll know that a genius wrote it, UC will beat Louisville and West Virginia
Sure that would be a prediction. Which I'm currently not debating. I'm happy to find out that you do understand the meaning of the word. Because to accurately show what I'm talking about, you need a "what if" type scenario. If we're going to give this conference with their weak schedules into the title game that easily, then we should also let in all the Mid-Major conferences as well. Getting through THAT schedule is not impressive, and you don't have to be the best in the country or really all that close to it to do so. A 1-loss team in the SEC, Big 10, Big XII, and Pac-10 are all more impressive than going unbeaten with WVU schedule. So the fact that they won a Bowl game 2 years ago has nothing to do with them deserving a shot later in life. Sweetest words I've ever heard from you. . Not despErate at all. They play a schedule equivalent to those of most mid-majors, and should be treated as such. Sure we'll let them get into one of the "Big Money" bowls games, but not into the MNC Game. Just like Boise, Utah, if TCU runs the table etc. etc.
The hell you aren't. The "Best" aren't always the ones who get in Championship games cause the "Best" team(s) don't always win any given game(s)........ie. Last year's SECCG. Also, last year's NC Game.........do you honestly think Ohio was the second best team in the country? So all those nice things you said in pm's were lies??? Learn how to spell argument. :hihi: Watch & see. You're the only one who keeps saying Boise and the Mountain West......... ??We were talking about WV. I know you think the one who talks last, wins the argument so go ahead, you can have the last word .
