I really hope Sylvester Croom does well at State. It'd be nice to see State compete in the west again. If nothing else, it'd take the last of the weaklings out of the west. Does anyone know much about the guy's experience?
He has a long way to go. Their recruiting was bad last year and worse this year. I hope they give him time to rebuild before they show him the door. I can't believe what they let Sherrill do to that program. I have talked to Alum there and they are embarressed. Sure he had a couple of good seasons, but he finished 500 and he has little respect (IMO).
It will always be tough to recruit the elite players to Moo U no matter who the coach is. StarkVegas is the least desirable town in the SEC to spend 4 or 5 years in.
Speaking of Sherrill. Do you guys remember when Richard Condon had his morning talk show and how he was really pitching for Sherrill to becone the next LSU head coach before Saban was hired. Sure glad he didn't have any influence in that decision making process.
I don't know who Condon is but I have lost any and all respect for him. Take a proven cheat that has been one step ahead of the ncaa for the past 10 years and give him our program? What a joke!
I agree. My little bro is currently attending state, enrolled in the PGM program. Depending on how it works out with his curriculum, he may try to walk on to the team this year as a WR or recieving TE. Not positive, but he's had a couple of meetings with Croom and the staff, and remains optimistic. He only played golf in HS, but hey at Redemptorist some good football must've rubbed off on him, right? He does have a great understanding for the game, is a good athlete and is hella motivated! And so far, he's got nothing but great things to say about Croom. Since my bro's enrollment in Moo U, I'll pull for them for #2 in the west and in any game not against the tigahs. (he knows that's all he'll get from me, regardless of if he gets on the team! ). Plus they hate Ole Miss more than us and we can ALL appreciate that! Realistically though, I hope Croom can atleast get the program up to the top of the lower 3rd of the SEC and finish no worse than 8th or 9th overall next year. Looking at their schedule, they have an OK chance of finishing with 5 wins (Tulane, Maine, UAB, Vandy, maybe UK).
Condom is an Idiot.... ..uh.. what were we talking about again?.. Oh!! Yes, I would like to see MSU be competitive again. Not too competitive though.
