Why are liberals so obnoxious?   You never hear of conservatives pulling stunts like these:

    Local Bush/Cheney headquarters robbed

DOWNTOWN - Cincinnati's headquarters for the Bush/Cheney re-election campaign was broken into overnight.

Money and a sign were taken from the office, on Seventh Street near Court Street. The thieves got in by breaking out a window.

The office was also ransacked, officials said. It also houses other Republican organizations.

Two Arrested for Hurling Pies at Columnist
    Associated Press

TUCSON, Ariz. - Two men ran onstage and threw custard pies at conservative columnist Ann Coulter as she was giving a speech at the University of Arizona, hitting her in the shoulder, police said.

University police arrested the men but did not release their identities.

It was probably republicans. They seem very desperate for attention right now. Maybe it will bring them a couple votes come election day. What a stupid stunt......

No? You have to be wearing blinders!

How about the ultra-conservative Montana militia kooks.

Two Arrested in Montana Militia Murder Plot
"Two members of a far right militia cell in Kalispell, Montana are in police custody after a former member told authorities of a plot by the group to kill local law enforcement officers, judges, prosecutors and their families."

How about the ultra-conservative clinic bombers who also murder doctors?

    Far-Right Militias and Anti-Abortion Violence
"When the Oklahoma City bombing captured the attention of the mainstream media, some women's rights activists expected that the attack would end mainstream media's reluctance to report on violence against abortion-providers and other domestic terror threats. That reasonable hope was dashed.

With its first reporting of the Oklahoma story, the New York Times (4/20/95) ran a list headlined "Other Bombings in America", which spanned four decades and included some attacks that claimed no injuries or lives. But none of the 40 officially documented bombings that have targeted women's clinics in that period was mentioned.

Media investigations of where right-wing militants get their violent ideas generally ignored the Army of God manual, which recommends 65 ways to destroy abortion clinics and includes an illustrated recipe for making a "fertilizer bomb" from ammonium nitrate and fuel oil. "

How about Timothy Friggin' McVeigh who blew up a US federal building in the name of right-wing anarchy?

McVeigh Disciple of Right Wing Hate Book
"The Turner Diaries recently drew national attention when it was disclosed that Timothy McVeigh, the accused Oklahoma City bomber, actively promoted the book before the April 1995 bombing. Originally published in 1978 by the author -- one of America's most notorious neo-Nazis -- the novel was available only through limited distribution channels, primarily from far-right hate groups. With its announced publication by Lyle Stuart's Barricade Books, it could become accessible through mainstream booksellers."

Left wing extremists commit vandalism and disrupt public meetings. Right Wing extremists commit murder and terrorism.

Funny that you should have to go back a few years to find a few isolated cases of extreme right-wing wackos, Red. I'm talking about mainstream liberals in the here and now...and the reason that these wacko liberals are mainstream is that there are very few moderate liberals anymore.

Incidentally, I don't know of anybody on the right that wants to claim Timothy McVeigh, yet I have yet to hear John Kerry speak out to condemn
these examples of assault, theft, and vandalism perpertrated by HIS supporters.

To tell you the truth, G-man, I could probably go back a few years and find you some extreme left wackos to match the fascist wackos listed above (well, maybe not McViegh). Read the Baton Rouge and Lafayette papers in the last week to find stories of people complaining about their Kerry for President yard signs being burned and stolen. So there are petty criminals among the right, too. There are always radicals on both extremes, and probably a few kooks in the middle, as well.

I think most liberals are closer to the center than to the extreme left. I think it's the same way with conservatives, too. Yet the Democratic and Republican parties continue to become more and more polarized to left and right extremes, leaving many moderates on both sides of center unrepresented in the middle of the political spectrum.

On a scale of 1 to 10 on the political spectrum with the right as 0 and the left a 10:

    0-1 -- Fascists (radical right-wing extremeists)
2-3 -- Conservatives (pure conservative agenda)
4-5 -- Libertarians (moderate conservatives with a liberal social agenda)
5-6 -- Progressives (moderate liberals with a conservative economic agenda)
7-8 -- Liberals (pure liberal agenda)
    9-10 -- Socialists (radical left-wing extremists)

I think most Americans fall between 3 and 7 and are in fact moderates on both sides of center. But the party agendas force many moderates to side with a candidate that is actually further out on the extremes. This country needs a moderate, centrist political party. There is a huge vacuum between the positions of the Democrats and the Republicans.

Clinton is probably the closest thing we have witnessed as far as a centrist political agenda.

you clearly have no idea of what a libertarian is. a libertarian is NOT A MODERATE. the center does not represent the views of libertarians. the center does not want to legalize drugs. the center does not want to kill social security entirely, along will all other government programs except absolutely essential ones. a libertarian is so far from the the center, that many of the main arguments between democrats and republicans do not even apply to them.

for a libertarian there is no argument about health care plans, because the government should have no dealing with providing health care for anyone. libertarians do not argue about minimum wage rate, affirmative action, or gay rights, because the government should deal with these things at all. a libertarian would abolish large portions of the government entirely. a libertarian does not argue about gay marriage, because the government should not be in the business of managing marriages of any kind, gay or straight. the very idea that the government has a say in these issues is tyranny. libertarians want to abolish national parks because the idea of "public property" is mostly ridiculous. libertarians would immediately free all drug offenders from jails. libertarians have no use for huge government agencies, like the dept of agriculture, or health and human services. all those should be abolished.

to claim that libertarians are moderates indicates an awful understanding of what a libertarian is. if you think the majority of people are moderates and libertarians are moderates, then why isnt michael badnarik a legitimate candidate? because libertarian views are very very far from the political center.

you are correct about the progressives, that is a centrist, and that is why they are the only group who could ever really produce a candidate like ross perot, who made it in to the debates. a libertarian is nowhere near that status, because they are so far from the center. read harry browne's book.

Hate to bust your bubble, but there was a story about a Democratic headquarters in Louisiana being vandalized with pro-Bush grafitti earlier this election season.
