Did you also see where Gil Brandt told Dean to hire Hallman and "Don't look back." Who in their right mind would hire this firm to find them a coach? Oh yeah Ole Miss....

Joe Dean now works for Gil Brandt? I didn't know that. The article is almost too ironic, is it for real? I have a hard time believing that Joe Dean is really in the college football coach search business. ("No, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night ...") Gil Brandt, author of perhaps the most infamous quote in LSU football history, "Hire Curley Hallman and don't look back." ? :hihi: And these chuckleheads have the gall to run an outfit purporting to advise schools on coaching hires??:rofl:

The problem w/ Joe Dean is that he NEVER understood that in order to make $$, you have to spend $$$. Emmert understood it, hopefully Skip does. If you read the book "Tiger Tales," there's a story where Dean was pissed b/c LSU paid Saban $1.3M instead of $1M on his first contract. I always liked Dean, personally, but he has a legacy of horrible hires. If he, and not Emmert, had been running the search, we would have gotten someone like Spike Dykes FCS.

Why is everyone panicking, why is Joe Dean issuing pronouncements? Give Skip a little time. If he can land Petrino or Del Rio, we will be OK, more than OK. We've already dodged 2 bullets in Tuberville and Nutt, and hopefully last night's game will eliminate Miles from consideration. Dean wouldn't consider someone like Petrino b/c he has the "vision" of Mister Magoo.

 

Reminds me of the story that used to go around about the afternoon Heidi Fleiss, O.J. Simpson, and Joe Dean got together for a round of golf. Heidi kept

True. One reason why Skip looks so good to us is he's no Joe Dean or Bob Broadhead.

Not only that, but remember, this is a two way street. Most of the coaches that would give their left nut to come here, we don't want. Most of the coaches we want are still have a gamed left to be played, so they're not going to be jumping through hoops expressing interest or either see this as a lateral move from one big time program to another. He comes across as a bitter old man.

 

Joe Dean is a crusty old crumudgeon who just needs to STFU. He has no and I mean NO reason to be popping off about coaching searches. There wasn't one hire he made at LSU that was worth a crap. Only now is all sports, except men's basketball - another great Dean hire, that is competing at the national level like they should be. Basically Dean is spitting in Bertman's face with his unnecessary comments and I think that's just chicken feces.

 

Joe Dean is a jackass. I wonder what his business partner(Brandt) thinks about Dean putting all the blame for hiring Hallman on him?

 

With all due respect Mr. Dean, stick to retirement. You're better at it.
